A friend of mine is trying to get Sky Sports NZ to show Australia's domestic cricket. I sent my email to John, don't know if it will work but worth a shot.

I have been Asking the CEO of Sky TV John Fellet if we could get more Cricket on Sky in New Zealand. In particular the Australian domestic 20/20 and the domestic 50 over competition.

Mr. Fellet said if he gets enough subscribers asking then he will get it for the New Zealand viewers.

If you would like to see the Australian domestic series or other Cricket on Sky please email Mr. Fellet at jfellet "at" skytv.co.nz

Thanks.

Sounds very good, what shall I say?
I'm not very good at writing, so just something like I would be interested in getting more cricket on Sky TV?

Can't see it happening, we hardly get any NZ domestic games just the 50 over final and about 7 or 8 T20 games. The market is just not there for it.

This is what I sent
A friend of mine told me to email you about showing Australia domestic cricket on Sky. I would love to see this happen as I am a massive Australian cricket fan. I was in Singapore last year and they of all countries had this showing on Starhub. So for NZ which is much more involved in cricket, we should be given the opportunity to have the same access. My friend also remembers it being shown in 2001 so it has been shown on Sky before. So I hope Sky take the opportunity to bring Australian domestic cricket back to Sky.

Yeah I might flick him an email sometime...

But I agree with Ari, we only get one 50 over NZ domestic game a year, as well as one T20 game a week.

Maybe in the next 10 years or so a cricket channel might come along, that would show all the overseas domestic stuff like the rugby channel, while normal sky digital would still continue to show all our international matches.

Even if you listen to radio sport, they have a couple of score checks an hour to see what the scores are around the country, but you still have people who ring up complaing saying they don't care about domestic cricket.

Apparently it made a difference as we got the Australia in India series last year and I believe they weren't going to show WI in Australia next week.

Yeah I no, I will email him in a week, after my exams. :)
I think we need to get more NZ domestic games first though...

Yea I wouldn't mind Australia domestic games but I'd still want NZ domestic to be shown more regularly.

Email about the NZ domestic cricket as well, that is pretty average coverage they give for that. If countries like Singapore are getting it then surely we can find a market. Even if it means getting a cricket channel which is what happens there.

Internationals are a bit different and if enough people sent emails wanting more of them I am sure that would happen. It is just unrealistic to think that they would start showing Australia domestic games when they barely show NZ ones.

It's not like Sky has to get actual coverage for it though, they can just get the feed. For our domestic cricket they would have to do a lot more work.

I'll give it a whirl.

True but the same can be said about all internationals outside of NZ and we only ever seem to see English and Australian home games these days with the odd exception. I think it would be safe to say the Australia tour of South Africa that we didn't see would have managed far higher ratings than aussie domestic games.

Would be keen to see the finals or perhaps highlights. Sky need to do more with the highlights channel - get all international game highlights etc. Anything more, neh. I probably wouldn't really care. Sorry

Unfortunate that the whole cricket watching world does not get to watch Star Cricket.

I think Singapore is where ESPNSTAR is based and they might be getting it on Star Cricket/Star Sports/ESPN in Singapore.
