Friendly Battles

I'll hereby suggest you guys to keep a poll in place with the votes not visible to members until the person votes. And he cannot change his votes once he has casted it. And as there can be fake voting by the friends or in request of the contestant through pm, I'd suggest, no vote will be considered unless they give the reason for voting for an entry and not voting for the remaining entry. In this way, the fake voting can be reduced and the best entry gets the vote. I've been seeing this fake voting since the past couple of weeks and it doesn't help the members to improve in any way. So please be genuine with your votes and give a proper reason for voting for an entry and reason for not voting for rest of the entries.
For the poll, we'll need to have a moderator in touch, I hope you can do that. Secondly, I like the idea opf voting for reasons, let's implement this from the next battle.

I don't understand why you guys are making fuss about this friendly battle. At the end of the day, there is no prize for this battle. Someone wins and someone doesn't. And it doesn't present your ability and skills. Each one is better in their own way and that is what matters the most at the end of the day.

@AliB has lost this and he thinks that he art is better, very good. You got to believe in your self and ability and it's a good thinking too.
@VDQuint has got the highest votes and he has won. Someone must lose and someone must win. All can't be winners or no one can ignore the fact that someone must be the loser.

Yep, I'll be around and you people can contact me for the poll. And under certain circumstances, if I'm not around, you might contact @zwarrior. I'm sure he will help you guys too...

The previous rules are perfect for a friendly competition it's the people who needs to change.
If we apply the same logic then Yash should have won the previous round.
No need of secret votes, it will not be transparent.

I agree. By making voting possible only for those who can explain the details, you're closing this off to people like me who come here just for fun, and judge artwork purely on how it looks, rather than some technical stuff.
I don't get the need for secret votes.[DOUBLEPOST=1509134475][/DOUBLEPOST]@PresidentEvil

So there were only two battles in the past couple of weeks so you are saying either @VDQuint cheated or the other guy cheated.
This is friendly battle anybody can ask their friends to check it out and maybe for vote but can't force it.

I don't get why this can't be the case. Why do you even want a friendly battle then?. Make your art and post that in your graphics thread. You can get the basic comment in that thread too. The main purpose for this competition is to determine whose work is better than whose. Giving the reason for casting your vote is very helpful for the contestants to improve. I'm not a graphics professional to give a 2-3 pages of reasons and places where the entries need to be improved. Just a couple of lines saying 'The color is too bright but the other one is well balanced. So I want to vote for it..' Its enough for the contestants to improve in that particular field i.e, colors.

And did I say that they 'cheated' ? It's clearly visible. I don't need to say anything more than what is clearly visible for people to decide whether they cheated or not. Again I say, yes it is friendly battle. But whats the purpose of this competition? Let's say I've entered into this friendly battle with an entry which is good to nothing. But I ask my friends to vote for my entry. 10 members come and vote for my entry and go away without any comments. While the other entry is better than mine, but that gets only 2-3 votes with comments that states the area in which the entry should've improved. Which one is better, the one with the comments or the one without it?

I've just made it as a suggestion and I'm glad that many of them are happy with implementing that. I'm not here to forcefully implement this. Decide that yourself and come to conclusion whether to implement it or not. I'll talk to Matt about the prizes for this competition as the contestants will work hard for entry but they just end up with some votes and a post saying 'abc is the winner with x votes'.

But by reading reasons Of the people who have voted anyone can count votes for particular member. Then there is no use of making poll invisible to members.

Don't make it too strict or Too loose
1. Make poll invisible to Members until they vote.
2. The Members who have given graphics entries should not vote. In this way Votes will be Hidden to Graphics makers.
3. After the decided time is over poll should be Visible to everyone or Someone who has voted should post the results.
4. After time is over the time is over members who have voted should post the reasons - Must* (To improve graphics this is important part). Or We all should decide about reasons

In this way votes will be Hidden to Graphics designer. And They can only see the results after time so no cheats will happen
I hope you will like this idea of keeping votes hidden.

That is what I've suggested. The polls will be invisible until a members votes for an entry and once the voting is done, they cannot change their vote. The people who have voted can then post the reason for voting for the entries..

With all these measures, this thing will die out. I agree with Jack and CK. Even I am here for fun and vote on an entry based on how pleasing it is to the eyes. This thread has lasted more than 400 pages and I have never seen such issues earlier. This was meant for newbie gfx makers to improve themselves by means of friendly battles with one another and learn new techinques. Why would anyone cheat here is beyond me! Still if they do, let them. I am sure they won't get anything of worth out of this, if they do cheat.

But reasons should be given after results

True that. What I suggested was purely to avoid that 'cheating' and if my memory serves me right, I haven't been the part of this battles even once in the past. Surely I don't exactly know what the outcome of my suggestion would be. Its open and they (the one who are participating in battle) can choose to go with it or continue with regular method. Or can even strike off the giving reasons and can go with invisible poll?
