Playing a depleted side today to save the good players for next match.... Yet they are performing well. We are 80/2 after 11 overs... Kris is not out on 39 off 28 balls. Good to see him scoring some runs after a series of dismal performances.:clap

----------

Even my second string of batsman are good. Its the bowling that is a worry. 4 out of 5 frontline bowlers have been rested. All the 4 bowlers are youth bowlers. So we need a really big score.

Kris missed out on a hundred. Out on 90(70b). Good for him to get some runs against a top side. Now we are in a good position to launch a all out attack. 177/3 after 25 overs. And of those 3 wickets, one was a bowler promoted to open the innings :p
So plenty of batting to come and my best batsman Anton Dec has got a start. He's on 45(38b)... Lets hope he plays a big innings today.

Almost pulled off an upset with my depleted lineup. Opposition required 42 runs in last 3 overs and poor death bowling cost us the match..:facepalm

Oldroyd Will Give up Captaincy After Season

Hedger's Team skipper, Murray Oldroyd has decided that his time is up as captain. He's been a loyal servant to the team, playing 76 OD matches, 67 T20 matches and 27 youth matches in his career, that was started at the club. The 24 year old wicket keeper hasn't done much with the bat in his career though still yet to pass the 1000 run mark in any format and only 3 half centuries in OD cricket with a top score of 78. However, his keeping is great and has taken 242 catches and 49 stumpings in all 3 formats, a total of 170 games. This is what he had to say about giving up the captaincy, "It was a great experience leading such a young side but it's just too much work for myself. I've fought through some injuries during the season, and missed a few matches to rest but still I find myself exhausted. Keeping makes things a lot worse as well so I'd rather just focus on my keeping and batting. I have full belief in the next captain that he can do wonders for the club. I'm just happy to still be at the club after a lot of sales going on to focus on our youth and I was one of the few senior players selected to add some experience to the squad."

The new captain is yet to be announced, and will most likely be announced over the next week. Here are the most likely candidates for captain.

Kasee Baldry - Young fast bowler but is one of the favoured candidates to get the position. However, he only plays in OD matches or has done for this season so whether he will get the position is a good question. He has taken 14 wickets @ 31.43 this season in OD cricket with best figures of 6/32.

Michael Young - The current youth captain but his chances are very slim. Probably the best leader in the whole squad but at only 17 years of age, he has other things to focus on. His experience is what hurts his chances at the moment with only 7 senior matches to his name.

Pim Mjinke - He will turn 20 at the end of this season and although not the best choice as captain, he is a candidate

Aidan O'Leary - He's probably the best choice to captain the side but National duties and his huge role already at the club, the captaincy would just add extra pressure.

Oldroyd Will Give us Captaincy After Season

Don't you mean give up captaincy?

Currently in a friendly match against AP. Got smashed around on a flat pitch but bowled them out in the 46th over for 315. Conceded yet another century to King who scored 110 from 109. Clawed our way back somewhat. At one stage they were 285/5 but a lower order collapse stemmed the damage with Elloit taking 5/54.

It remains to be seen whether our batsmen can chase it down (I'm guessing not.)

I made 275/7 against Agrid South Africa. Murch was the star hitting 90 at the top of the order while O'Leary scored 57, Oldroyd scored 35 and Whiteman and Yousif were looking good at the end of the innings scoring 29 off 16 and 20* off 22 respectively.

----------

And that was O'Leary's dismissal...

35.2 W Henderson to O'Leary : O'Leary flicks that one down the leg side and takes off for a quick single. The ball is... hang on! Pienaar is pointing at the stumps and it looks like O'Leary has stood on his stumps. What a disappointing way for his innings to end.
A. O'Leary hit wicket b. C. Henderson 57 (57b 3x4 0x6) SR:100.00
