The C&G Trophy and the Twenty20 Cup
Same rules apply for the
C&G Trophy and the
Twenty20cup apart from the fact that incase of a tied game in a knockout stage, then the winner is decided by a bowl-out contest.
Points System in Twenty20 Cup
Win - 2 points
Tie/NR - 1 point
In the Twenty20 cup you first have teams qualifying from three different groups, with the top two teams from each group plus the best two of the third placed teams making it to the quarterfinals.
From here on it follows the knockout format.
The C&G Trophy follows the knock out format throughout.
The Free Hit Rule
In the event of a foot fault no ball, the next delivery is a free hit wherein the batsman can only be dismissed by a run out. If this delivery is a wide or a no ball then the following delivery is a free hit.
Bowl-out Rule
If a knockout match ends in a tied result after all possible comparisions, then both teams select 5 players who will have to strike the stumps. The team which does this the most number of times in those five chances (in a best of five) will declared the winner. If no clear result is attained after five chances, then the winner is decided by a sudden death, wherein the first team to miss out in a given round, while the other team has scored, is eliminated.
