With our GCSEs coming up in the next 6 weeks (?) its time to start buckling down and studying for the exams.

Who's taking them this year?
What are you looking forward to?
Which exam are you hoping never comes around?

GCSEs :crying

I am terrible at revising. I like having a task set for me to do specifically, I can't work looking at a book for things I might need to know.

My oral exam for German is on 22nd April, and my last exam is in early June in Science.

Could this not have gone in this thread?

Anyway, GCSE's ain't hard, you'll all be fine as long as you at least do a week's revision per exam and paid enough attention to the teachers the whole year. Remember the GCSE's are set up so that you always at least get a C

In theory yes, but id rather it have its own thread when you consider some of the threads that are on this website.

I got my french speaking 24th april, i should really learn some french!

I took them last year, and take this as advice... Study, study study... It pays off.

Yeh I got 'em this year. Revision really isn't one of my strong points as I get bored really easily, but I know that it will definitely help.

The English exam will be the hardest, and it's the one I desperately need to get a C in. Maths will most likely be a piece of cake. Graphics is pretty much a lottery on how you do. History will be tough, especially the medicine part of it. Science I feel fairly confident on, although there is a lot of stuff you need to remember. PE also is the same, and with my practical scores not great, I need a good grade in the exam.

I had mine 2 years ago, they're nowhere near as hard and challenging as you think, especially if you put the revision in. I have my A2 finals at the same time and really need to get some revision done after some pretty bad Jan module results, especially in ICT. Definitely going to have to put some work in.

Trev, I thought I was going to find English really hard, but ended up getting an A in both Lang and Lit. Same with Maths, where I got a B.

Well I got a B for my speaking and listening + coursework in English. On a C for coursework in Literature, but obviously the exam is the bulk of the grade for both. Need a C to be able to take English Combined at A level and media, so a lot riding on the exam for me.

I should do well in PE i got 8/10 in all 4 sports and 18/20 in my analysis of performance. English ive already got a B and the standard science i got an A. RE i dont care too much about, History im hoping for A*/A, Maths A/B, French C, English Lit a B/A, Additional Science any letter will do.

Any tips on revision. I cant revise for love nor money.

All I do for revision is get a small piece of card and write key bits of a topic from subjects. Do 1/2 an hour and then break. Just write down everything and it should go in. Done about 30 odd cards so far, which will increase a lot once it gets nearer to the exams.

I suck ass at revision! Can't buckle down at all.

@ those doing Orals: know your vocab, and go in there confident. The examiner/teacher is your friend for 15 mins.

My French oral was a disaster and no one will ever be able to beat it. I mudled cousine and cuisine up and said I like fish and chips when I was asked do I have cousins?

Got a D for that but the B's in the other sections equalled it out thankfully

I took my French GSCE back in 1998 and my Scottish Higher in 1999.
Peut-être nous devrions seulement parler en français en ce fil (or whatever thread is in French).
