When asked by a journalist about why was ashish nehra chosen in the World T20 squad despite not been fit for the ipl so far, the chairman of selectors, Krish Srikkanth replied that he will not talk about individual cricketers. Then? What will you talk about sir? You are the chief of selectors and we do possess the right to understand the rationale behind the selections. Nehra is only one of the questions. What about rohit sharma? Do not recall him scoring a century in the Ranji finals or a match-winning innings in the IPL. Piyush Chawla? He has taken lesser wickets than Pragyan Ojha and amit mishra in the IPL. His economy rate is not better than them as well. Then? Is it not our right to at least understand what the thinking was behind choosing them?Or is it the same old zonal system? You scratch my back, I scratch your syndrome? Come on mate, you are a paid selector and as far as I understand, paid a lot of money. You need to come out with something better than that.

Selectors are forced not to talk about the selection in the media. If they do so, the BCCI raps them on the knuckles. Its a very idiotic decision not to consider either Manish Pandey or Virat Kohli for the WC and include Rohit Sharma in the team. They are still clinging onto Rohit's form in the first T20 WC where we won the title.

Only hope is for India to be injury free for this World Cup (if we achieve that, our chances improve as opposed to last time).

India will not enter Semi Final of ICC World T20.
Everything goes fine while playing bi lateral series' but I dunno what they get up when its selection for ICC world T20. Even last year, there was a controversy in selection and same is going on now.
And I'm sure that Rohit Sharma has been selected as he's from Mumbai Players Gang.:spy (I even like Mumbaikars, but I'm forced to say this as these are the politics going on in BCCI)

My guess is that they wanted to keep Chawla and Sharma in the frame of things for a while, and so are picking them to see how they go in T20 internationals. They probably weren't picking a squad to win them these games (Otherwise why leave out Mishra??)

If they weren't picking a squad to win it, they should be sacked. This squad doesn't look like a winning one. Persisting with one player for so long is absolutely uncalled for when you have so many players knocking on the door for national selection.

R Shama is awesome! the man with MRF bat gonna take us into the finals :banana2

seriously he's crap. At the opening T20 cup our selectores gambled with Dhoni as captain and new players they still think this will work this time too

:facepalm

Don't quite understand the flak Rohit Sharma gets. He's 22, is averaging 30 in T20i's with a strike rate of over 120 and apart from a few troubles against the short ball (which seems to be a problem for quite a few young Indian players) he looks a class act. He averages 55 in FC cricket too, give the lad a chance ffs. I see him being a key part of India's future and I think the Indian public have been far too harsh on the lad.

Not really KP. Have you see the way he gets himself out? It's like he doesn't value his wicket, plays the most ridiculous shots when it isn't needed. He's one of those that isn't dismissed by a bowler as much as he throws his wicket away.

The talent's there, the mentality isn't.

What do you expect, he's 22. Of course he's going to play some poor strokes and get himself out, he's still learning his game. He's a seriously talented cricketer, and needs to be stuck with and given chances. I'm backing the lad to have a big future.

If he's still learning his game, he isn't ready for international level. Especially when guys like Raina are doing a much better job.

And it's not just some poor strokes. It's Afridi like - he throws his wicket away nearly every time.

But he should have a good future if he corrects these flaws. He is really talented.

He's still learning his game, but he's still performing in T20i's. Not advocating his selection in the XI as such, just think he gets a lot of unfair criticism and think he's a better player than many Indian fans give him credit for. As for Suresh Raina, isn't he in the squad anyway?

Yup, and should be in the starting XI with Gambhir, Viru, MSD, Yuvi, Pathan. So if we fit Sharma in we'll go in with just 4 bowlers or Raina will be dropped.

Seriously talented? I agree. As are Manish Pandey, Virat Kohli, Manoj Tiwary, Saurabh Tiwary and a bunch of other Indian batsmen. And, it's for this reason that I find it unfair that he's been given so many chances. If there were no other batsmen who had the talent or the stats to back them up, then I'd understand it. But, most of those guys have won tons of matches for their domestic teams. Rohit Sharma has barely won matches for Mumbai recently - Abhishek Nayar has been the matchwinner in the middle order for that team.

Sharma is still more talented than those names, but yea, they don't throw their wickets away.

Kohli, right, that was the name I was looking for. He's been performing well too, didn't deserve to be dropped for Sharma.
