Graham Thorpe dies aged 55

Oh my. Graham was such an elegant and in my view sometimes underrated batsman. He added real quality to the England set-up as well. So young. I knew he had been ill for quite some time but still a shock. All the best to his loved ones.

Yes, it was suicide. The article also says he attempted it once before as well. Just got me thinking, why didn't they have a proper program for him? Or if he really wanted to end it all, why not do it in Switzerland, where euthanasia is legal?

what's the difference between commiting suicide in England or in Switzerland? I'm pretty sure Switzerland is known for allowing assisted suicide, where it would be difficult to end your life yourself due to some handicap, so you get someone to do it for you

Genuinely sucks, had a feeling it might have been this after his mystery illness and public struggles but it's still always so shocking

Also sorry for the rant but I'm always blown away by how garbage the daily mail is, they've included the stories of his infidelity and alcoholism for like 50% of the article covering such a sensitive situation

Assisted suicide gives the family some time to come to grips with his decision. A suicide is bound to send shockwaves.

My point being, had he opted for an assisted exit, his family would have been less stressed.

Fairs this is the worst take I've ever seen. Have a think about what you're saying ffs

Assisted suicide is available here in Canada as well but only available to those that are in extreme pain and have no other alternatives. (At least based on my understanding, I could be wrong)

Losing someone you care about is never easy, regardless how it happens.
