Your Cricket Gray Nicholls Powerbow

Do you know anywhere near me where i can buy a Salix bat ? There's a shop in Attleborough in Norfolk, but thats pretty far away. They sell Newberry, GN, Hunts, Salix and G&M bats, heres their site . Salix dont have any places listed in Suffolk that sell their bats so i'm not sure. I just wanna find a shop in Suffolk or Norfolk that sells a massive range of bats, cause i'm not sure what one i want next, and will probably ask for one for x-mas, so the price range is limitless :P, but i dont want one over ?150. So any help would be great.

The shop in Attleborough is sensational. The guy who owns it, (Deryck, first name terms ;) Aha) is an absolute legend. He goes down to all the factories and picks the bats he wants. You won't buy a bad bat of him. I promise. He'll knock it in and oil it for you as well, if your that way inclined.

You could try the following:

Eccere Sports - 41a Upper Brook Street, Ipswich
Tel: 01473 216413

Sudbury Sports - 38 Market Hill, Sudbury
Tel: 01787 372687

Don't know if there any good though. If it's for xmas you could try to get your parents (I'm assuming you're young, hence the harrow bat) to make day trip and go along to the Salix factory in Kent. It'd be a good day out (especially if someone else shares a love of cricket) and you'd get to see the various stages of bat making.

I see that Animator has given the Norfolk shop a good review so might be the way to go.

Almost Austwick, what is your opinion on buying handmade bats on the internet, made to your specification, i.e Fusion, Laver & Wood. Are these worth it or is it better to buy a named brand (Woodworm, G&M etc)?

Oh cool. Whats the range of bats like ? what makes ? or is it just the ones on the site ? Cause i'd like to try out a Slazenger Sxi aswell cause i've heard great reviews about that from a friend. I'll try and pursuade my parents to take me to attleborough though :P. If not i'll just wait till i can drive, first lesson on Wednesday, so a while to wait :p. Cheers for the help though guys.

I'm 17 btw Tom ;) The reason i was looking for a harrow bat is due to my Powerbow being so bottom heavy. I will be looking at an SH bat for x-mas though.

It can be a good way to go but you have to know what you're after. It really helps if you already have a favourite bat that they can copy and make a few tweaks to (make the sweet spot lower, light weight etc).

It's personal choice at the end of the day but unless you're a pro or have cash to chuck around you're not going to gain a great deal by going down the personalised route, unless you're really awkward and\or know exactly what you want your bat to do, play or look like etc.

Ok, thanks very much for your help. I think i'm just going to go to the shop in the off season and choose the one that feels the best.

Umm, maybe i was a little harsh on my Powerbow :P. I used it in a match today and it felt great. With my light harrow Torch i was encouraged to try and swing across the line as it was so light, to try and slog my way to runs. Due to the Powerbows extra weight it allows me to focus more on my driving and also puts more weight into the shot. I played my best shot of the season today, a glorious Cover Drive, placed perfectly between 2 fielders, didnt make it to the massive boundary, and i only ran 1, but that was mainly due to me admiring the shot for too long :P. Will be using my Powerbow for the forseeable future though. Will still be getting a new bat in the winter period though. The powerbow will be my weapon of choice for the rest of the season. It's SH btw ;).

Yeah,it has got grip, shear power generation, less possibility of Edging,it's a really great bat, but,if you prefer heavy weight bat, then make sure you bat only with bold gloves.it's really painful to hit and the palms get ruined and red.

Good preference on deciding to buy the Bat.go ahead!

Used my Powerbow tonight and i now love it. Dont know why i started using my Woodworm. Has a cracking pick-up, its lighter than i remembered, has a great middle and looks great. Extremely pleased that i have begun using it again as its a great bat. Reccomend it to everyone.
