To make it more challenging I have done some editing of files. I cant claim much of the credit for these changes as alot of them are just edits of previous work done by others.

Its a work in progress but pleasantly things look good so far. Hard to bowl out CPU now and I cant average 14 runs an over while batting (down to about 6-7)

1) I use Paul smiths 5 day configs with the following edits:-

a) Curser size increased. Harder for Player to keep hitting that sweet spot while bowling and batting is more challenging, you cant just straight drive most balls for 4 anymore or smack alot of ondrive 6's.

b) Fast bowling speed reduced. CPU had difficulty playing short pitched bowling properly and graphics animations of backfoot shots had batsman treading on stumps alot. Still happens with this edit but not as much.

c)Fast bowlers slower ball increased alot. Looks better, more realistic and CPU can adjust better.

d) Spin bowlers speed increased alot. CPU had severe problems timing drives on Pauls setting and even game default setting. Now drives better timed. Also the CPU missed alot of yorkers from spinners, it was easy to get lbw by bowling legspin yorkers around the wicket.

e) Bounce and carry for all bowlers reduced, still greater than default settings

2) Shots

a) Late cut graphically removed and replaced with straight drive animation. Power levels increased. Can only be played against pace bowling. This enables the ball to be run down to third man. Timing is crucial, dangerous to play through packed slip field by Player although CPU is real good at it. Third man now becomes an important run saving position

b) Sweep now only played against balls missing leg stump by CPU. CPU still sometimes tries to sweep yorkers from spinners but it isnt as prevalent as before

c) Front foot leg glance changed from defensive shot to moderate shot, given more power and can be played by cpu for good length balls pitched anywhere. In real life good legside batmen whip balls off stumps and outside off to midwicket. Player now front foot leg glances on full length balls using NumPad 6 for right hand batsmen. A real good milk-the-bowling shot but if u dont time it right u will edge to slips, particularly if u dont get your batsmen in line of the ball.

d) Cover drives given alot more power...much more cover drives for 4, and late/early timing goes into ground. Now spinners wont get a poultice of catches to silly midoff.

e) Used one of Pauls patches which replaced front foot cut with sq cut animation, and changes the defensive animations. Looks real good against spin with batsmen actually looks like 'kicking' the ball away

f) Leg glance can now only be played against pace, shot given more power and shot direction is now finer. The leg glance to full balls from spinners isnt a shot thats played alot in real life, most balls on leg/outside leg are defended/left alone/padded away/swept/ driven or pushed through midwicket. CPU now plays other shots instead (sweep/ondrive/front foot leg glance).

g) Both sq cut and cut now both go down quicker when perfectly played. This also prevents the ludicrous catch at head height to silly midoff when u powerfully cut the spinner. Six shot altered, now most will fly over gully but will not go for six.

h) Hook shots graphically remove and replaced with pull shot animation, which results in alot more clean hits by CPU.

1) Ondrive 6 power reduced, occaisionally even a perfectly hit 6-shot wont clear the ropes, more viariation in direction, backfoot ondrive 6 now no longer possible.

3) All new fields for bowlers. E.g. For pace bowling generally more attacking overall...aggressive fields have no third man etc. Also now possible to find the rope when CPU bowls bad balls with defensive field.

More to come...

Things working on:-

1) CPU batsmen extremely vunerable to getting out in first 10 balls of an innings. Once you get a wicket you can trigger a collapse. This needs to be adjusted a bit...if possible. I'll have to dig around and look in forums for what the values in the tcompat and tinternat are all for.

2) CPU still really vunerable to yorkers from spinners (tries to sweep...misses a very high percentage), pitched millimeters outside leg and hitting stumps, umpire incorrectly gives these out. Dont want to remove sweep shot completely if it can be avoided

3) Full pitched balls bowled around the wicket by fast bowlers to CPU left handers easily bowl them as they miss a straight drive..not sure if this can be fixed at all.
