Why they always bowl on your leg?

:) Hi Friends,
I am new to this forum. I dont know whether this topic is already discussed in this forum. If so, Im sorry.
I've found that the main reason for the free flow of runs in BLC/SWC for the batsmen is because of the ease to play the legside shots. Say the on-drive. I think its a 98% succesful shot. same is case of glances and pulls. Hook shot may be an exception. But at the same time its very risky to play the offside shots. Especially the square drive(although very powerful). Actually i could play that shot well only after using some of the enhancement pack downloaded from BLC Online.
And making the batsmen's job easy, the CPU bowlers normally bowl atleast 3 balls/over on your leg. Can we fix this problem. Can we restrict the bowlers to ball only on or outside the off(which is seen in real life) with only a maximum of 1 b/o on the leg. This will make the batsmen to be more innovative. They must improvise to play leg side shots. I think this can better gameplay.

Thanks . Hoping for ur cooperation

undertaker,
if you download my oditest match batting patch 30/12/01, I suggest you also download the *.rot files from my Batting Enhancement Patch 26/11/01 (under the name of Phil Smith).
These files are found in part 2 of the patch where you will also find some*.atr files. Only download the *.rot files from this patch as newer *.atr files are found in the oditest match patch.

Not sure if it really improves the cpu bowling, but it will make human batting and bowling to the cpu a lot more enjoyable.

regards

It is annoying though, how the cpu bowls so many down leg side. I think someone (zim, Paul ?), hit the nail on the head with this when they said that perhaps Codemasters made the cpu bowl a variety of balls to keep the 'casual' player happy.
Another case of 'source code, please, Codemasters' ;) .

Jonah, regarding the scource code, do you have knowledge about this type of thing?, ie. if we had the code what would we have to do to implement changes?, would it need programming ability? It would be of interest to hear from someone with more knowledge of these things than me who could shed light on what we would have to do to change certain things in the game, if we had the code. By the way, did you get the stumps? is there anything you need still that you lost with your h/d trouble?
regards,Paul

Hi :),

Again problem not solved. Thanks zimrahil for your enhancement pack. That helped a lot to improve the batting. but didn't improve the CPU bowling. Bowlers again bowl a lot on my leg. The left handers bowls more on the off.

Can this be solved by changing some of the capture files. zimrahil, i know you are good in experimenting with the .rot files. Will anyone plz try something on this. I'll be greatful to you

thanks

Paul,
I'm afraid I'm no expert (some of the other guys probably know more), but I assume by having the source code certain changes could be made ( overs in the day, maybe implement some of the capture files that are unused etc.). It would be interesting to know what language BLC is written in.....I don't think my limited knowledge of C and VB would help much though!!
Also, I d/l the stumps thanks to the link you posted.Yesterday, I managed to get my old HDD working on an old PC, so was able to rescue some of my BLC files :) .
Thanks again.

Btw, just watching the Aussies struggle to reach NZ's total of 235 in today's ODI (currently 174/5 after 38 overs (max 49) ).
Surely the Aussies aren't going to lose three on the trot??!!

:DSo Guys,

Bowling on the legs remains as a problem that cannot be fixed. I also hope for the Codemasters to do something.

I 've noticed that this game resembles a lot to the old 'Allan Border's Cricket'. The type of shots, the strategy. In that game also the bowlers used to bowl a lot on my legs. And one of the developers of BLC - Gary Gray - was also a developer for that old game.

Seems that they havent learn from mistakes or as jonah said it to keep the 'casual' player happy.

thanks

UnderTaker :)
