An idea for changing the shot direction would be to copy the direction from another shot.
Like for the late cut you could use the direction from the square cut.

ps: The late cut is A-Cc066

If you want to stop the situation whereby the cpu batsman keeps playing the late cut to your spinners and always gets caught behind then alter the bowler type in a-cc066 from 14 to 9.

Ben, are u sure that acc-19.atr is the file for the backfoot defense shot?I edited it but there are no changes in the game

Ajay I'm pretty sure that is the file - but it is very rare to play that shot...even on a reasonably short pitched ball you still play the usual forward defensive shot when u press enter+8 or shift.

U gotta downolad BLC Editor (xoom.com/xecret) with which you can change the player names,batting/bowling styles etc.
