Since coming back from his injury kp just doesnt look the same player he was before, do you think it is just taking him a while to get himself in the groove again? Or is he on a slow decline?
I hope its just the recovery from injury but i think the captaincy issue definately has affected him,
Will the real KP please stand up...

I dont think he,s finished he just doesnt have the confidence oozing out of him like before im sure he can get that back with some big scores, also i think the fact that he is not as needed in the team as he was before, everyone looked to him to do something wheres now strauss has really stepped up and become the main man and he has carried the team on his own in some matches.

Give him another season and see where hes at after that, all players have their form slump especially returning from an injury. Unlike Hayden, KP has age on his side so the selectors won't be as eager to drop him.

One bad tour people, let's not over react. All players go through bad spells, even the likes of Tendulkar or Ponting. If this continues for another couple of tour's I'll understand the concern, but not at the moment.

To be fair he hasnt been the same for at least a year now, maybe he just set such high standards it is impossible to keep them up, you cant drop him though even if he goes another 5 or so tests without a significant score because just having him in your team gives the other players a lift.

I think Pietersen has always been a little over-rated. No doubt he's a class batsman at all though. I just think people expect a bit too much from him. edit: ^ exactly. He's set a high standard now and it's tough for him to live up to it all the time.

This happens to most players. They start really well. They go through a form slump. Then it's up to them to bounce back and learn from it. Just around the corner i'm sure he'll get a fifty or a hundred and things will change. Look at Ricky Ponting. He had a big form slump, people wanted him dropped and he smashed 270odd runs in the latest game.

I think with ponting when he gets going it just feels like you through everything at him and and he just aint gonna get out no matter what and it drains the life out of teams but with kp there is always a chance of getting him out no matter how good he is playing, but hey thats what makes him so good to watch i expect.

That's a strange way to select a team.... The other players like this guy so we'll keep him. But I agree he can't be dropped, he is a talented batsmen and there is no way England can afford to drop him. I'm sure he will come out of this slump very soon and score a ton.

Thats not quite what i meant actually he gives the others confidence so if him just being there means other batsmen get an extra 10-20 runs because of kp being in the side ill take that all day long,
In football i know off topic but when rooney is not playing well there is no way ferguson or capello would not pick him, with him in your team it gives others an extra edge to there game which cannot be taught.
Even if there playing bad you need your kp,s for this reason alone.

I just think KP has had a lack of time in the middle. He's gone from the start of the Ashes when he was struggling like crazy with injury, to this series when he's still recovering, yet he's hardly played any cricket in between, let alone a 4 day game. I think he'll be fine against Bangladesh, and if not, he just needs to go back to his County for a couple of FC matches and spend some time in the middle. If anything we've perhaps rushed him back because he is so important to the team.
