Hats off to this young boy

Australians are very methodical. I think they will bowl short at him and check his backfoot defense a lot often. He has already proven himself against a quality Australia A bowling side but test cricket is a different ball game altogether.

After seeing him play today, there is no way he will survive batting at 3 against the Australians. Need to push him back to 5-6

He will not only survive but will play good, one odd bowl can not say that he will not survive.

He has scored way too many runs through gully, 3rd and 4th slip for my liking. His luck will run out, and he'll have a lean run. But when he's on, he's on.

One odd ball? His whole innings bar a few big shots was very streaky, infact his first eight runs were scored through the slips and he played and missed several times before and between then. He's a very promising talent, but number three is not his posistion at this stage of his career.

I also agree with nz0003, his luck will eventually run out. He needs to fine tune his game and tone down the aggression, while some might say that's a fine attribute to have while he's scoring runs what will people say about him when he's playing the same way but not scoring?

I have to agree with Howsie here. Having said that, I think this guy can really develop into an awesome player if he concentrates a bit more on occupying the crease than taking risks :)

on the pitches where players like sachin need luck to start their innings what you can expect from a 19 year old guy.
Young blood will cools down as his carrier will proceed.

He better be ready for a short ball barrage when he comes here.

We're very good at doing our homework!

This guy has already shown his class in Australia in A side so his confidence must be up.

Yeah, he's shown his ability to play on Australian pitches....

umar looks much much muture than his age, he has become a good asset for pakistani team in very short time.

Best Of Luck Umer.. You have proved yourself till now well.. Time for some Aussie Challenge..

Actually if you closely analysis his technique, you will came to know that besides some minor flaws he can bat well on non-subcontinental pitches too.
After looking at his technique one name came to my mind was Zaheer Abbas,he was also too good Australian and English soil.
