Hey guys..i have been wanting to upgrade my pc for like months now...
and i was always reluctant as something new was introduced almost
every year lol :P
and i wanna make sure that the PC upgrade will last atleast for 3-4 years.

and after a LOOOOOOOOTTTTTT of thinking and research...i have finally
narrowed down to this.

btw, i dont have as much money as the_gas so i am not going for TOO HIGH !

this i feel would be the best for me :-
and i am also listing the prices, the dealer gave me.

Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 - 8000
Intel 965 Motherboard - 6000
Kingston 2GB DDR2 RAM - 5000
XFX Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320MB - 17,500
Samsung 500GB SATA HDD - 7000

My pc isnt that much better than yours jk. Still, that looks a good system, shame about the gts but its your choice. :)

no no no :noway , increase the CPU to 2.4 GHZ core 2 due, (if its too expensive then go for the AMD equivilent)

im also in the process of upgrading my pc and im too going for the same motherboard and processor.

Why should we go for 2.4Ghz instead of 1.8Ghz?

Ofcourse it is better, but whats the problem in 1.8Ghz? We have limited budget u know...

nothing, there is lot more to hardware than flashy processors.
infact, Jk_16 would get a lot more benefit from core 2 duo E6600, but tutsi's system would become bottlenecked at GFX card, so no need there.

however, it's always better to invest in more ram and GFX cards than processors.

future proof - 600W
also, your ram seems like 667 one
get DDR2 800.

i'll get a 500W instead...more than enough and i know i wont be having the need for SLI/crossfire.
DDR2 800 seems to be too pricy..i am happy with 667. :)

its TOO expensive mate...if i had the money...i would have bough GTX instead and a 975 motherboard.....;)

your system would be seriously bottlenecked. trust me, go for DDR2-800

ohk...if thats the case...then no harm in spending an extra 1500 ;) :p

i am also thinking of going for 2.13Ghz.....
lets see...its not that pricy if you compare 1.86 !
but 975 motherboards and 2.4 processors will make you go bankrupt :p

hmm, if u know how to overclock your FSB, then go for E4300, E6300. when overclocked, E4300 can match and outperform even the X6800!! that too a default heatsink and fan
it can reach about 3Ghz on default heatsink and fan

do not Underestimate the role of a good CPU on games, it is essential. If you don’t believe me look for the games you are interested in the market such as BLIC 07, look at its system requirements it and you will see on average they want 2.0 GHZ or over, in my opinion lower your hard drive capacity and then with what you save get the 2.4GHZ duel core ore an AMD equivalent

But at the end its up to u mate! :)

Arent you, errhhh, exagerrating ? even if it crosses 3 ghz it woiuldnt be matching the X6800. Many reasons. 1. The processor design difference ( Not sure ) . 2 . The L2 cache difference.

Its not only about clockspeed. You know it ;)
