Well, I'd really like to help with this. I have some experience with Drupal, so I think I should be able to work with Joomla alright, the graphics and design part that is.

By the way are you going to put ads on the site?

Also for editing the template, if you are using firefox, just install this extension: Firebug. To use it, just click on the firebug icon in the status bar at the bottom in Firefox. A panel will pop up. Just click on inspect at the top of that panel and then click on the element on the site you want to inspect. The details regarding that element will be visible in that pop-up panel.

The project will officially restart as of this weekend. Finals are finally over, and now I have lots more time to devote to this site.

If you are in ANY way interested in helping out - writing articles, making wallpapers that we can give away, web design, all the techie stuff, anything at all - PM me. I'll give you my MSN and email address and we can take things from there.

I'll start contacting those who have already expressed interest in a few days.

Any updates? How's the work going?

Phew, it's been a long time since I got back to this! I've had lots of work, exams have kept coming in without a break, and all the extra curricular activities have simply piled up.

But, the end is almost near. Come June, I'll have so much free time to work on the site and make it better. I still need people who can help out - with the techie stuff, graphics, writing, video production, and more.

Update: I've given up with Joomla for the time being and installed something more simple - Wordpress. It's a fantastic temporary option, will help the site develop faster in these early stages and will get some content in quicker too. It doesn't have all the features and possibilities of Joomla, but it's easy to use and manage.
