BBC Sport said:
Arsenal hope Croatian striker Eduardo will make a full recovery from his horrific leg break in nine months.

The 25-year-old suffered a fractured left fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle in a challenge with Birmingham's Martin Taylor on Saturday.

Eduardo will have his leg in plaster for the next six to eight weeks before beginning a rehabilitation programme.

Arsenal say the Croatia international, signed for £7.5m in 2007, should be running again in six months.

Amazing. So much for amputation being a real possibility, seems the injuries not quite as bad as first thought. 9 months is half the average length of lay-off when a player does their cruciates in. I really thought he'd be out for twice that time, so for him to probably be running within 6 months is amazing. I hope his rehabilitation goes correctly and he's back as soon as possible.

Because what he said was way, way out of order, it was a bad tackle, but I've seen worse this season, and luckily they've not caused injuries, so no one's batted an eye lid. I dont think it was professional for Wenger to say that, and slightly hypocritical after Wenger sent his side out to kick United in the 2nd half less week, albeit to a lesser extent.

Lee, it's an interesting debate actually, I guess there's a few different viewpoints. But I think that retaliation, although not excused, can be understood, taunting someone about such a serious injury for no reason, is sick.

FFS! Seriously!? Why do you have to berate Arsenal in every other post?

When have Arsenal ever had a game plan to kick the other team?

Wenger admitted his comments were over the top and retracted them. I don't see Birmingham releasing an official statement apologising for the tackle. No, instead they're defending Taylor.

Wenger should not have to apologise for being horrified about his player's injury.

Yeah, Dan, I saw that article and was very surprised especially about him only needing a plaster for 6-8 weeks.

I hate their petulant, hypocritical attitude, thats why its so refreshing to see what Eduardo's said.

FA Cup game against United 9 days ago, 2nd half.

I dont mind him being horrified by the injury, he's every right to be, its him being horrified by the tackle and wanting to put an end to an innocent man's career, Taylor. He's probably had a quick word by the FA on Saturday telling him to say sorry, and even then he's only managed a retraction, he should have apologised, to someone who didn't intend to injure Eduardo and will be feeling distraught enough already.

Anyway, lets leave this general arsenal business behind, and focus on the main issue here, which is the recovery of Eduardo. It's brilliant that he could come back in that time, quite amazing actually, it'll be tough but he's shown he has a determined attitude, so he can do it.

The specialists that is now treating him said that had the medical staff for Arsenal and Birmingham not reacted so quickly and got him to hospital within 20 minutes, amputation would have had to have been a serious consideration.

You have to bare in mind that Eduardo has to get over the stage of infections now.

And I am sick and tired of your double standards. If Ferguson had made this comment (and I'm pretty sure he would have), you would not have demanded an apology. No, you seek any opportunity to have a go at Arsenal which is sad, unprovoked and annoying.

FA Cup game against United 9 days ago, 2nd half.

I don't remember us giving you any rough treatment in the second half. But of course, Gallas' kick out and Flamini's disgraceful challenge which won the ball means that Arsenal are a bunch of hypocritical, cheating, sore losers. You have not stopped goin on about it since the match. You won. You were better. Get over it. But no, you'll keep giving sly digs.

See. Here, is where you have got it entirely wrong. How the hell is Taylor innocent? He broke a man's leg! Wenger did not want to end his career, otherwise, he wouldn't have retracted his comments. I'm sure Taylor feels horrible and I feel for him but for you to concentrate on how the perpetartor feels rather than Eduardo is incredible!
Why should he apologise to a player that broke Eduardo's leg? He retracted the comments which is definitely enough. I can't believe you make a furore over Wenger not apologising for comments he retracted when Birmingham City would rather tell everyone what a nice guy Taylor is rather than make an apology to Eduardo

Twice, you've said you'll leave the Arsenal business alone only to bring it up in another thread.

Because it wasn't that bad a tackle and we've seen worse this season. Its just that it has unfortunately caused such an injury that its been criticized so much. Worse tackles have gone unnoticed. It certainly wasn't malicious. I didn't make a furore over Wenger not apologising for his comments, just someone praised him for retracting them, when he shouldn't have said them in the first place.

I asked you to leave the subject alone, yet you continue to argue, so to your first point. Eboue when he got sent off, Gallas' kick out at Nani, Flamini's tackle on Nani, Hoyte's swipes at Nani, I think 4 occasions is enough, don't you?

Because it wasn't that bad a tackle

This comment takes the cake. Not that bad a tackle? It was 6 inches above his ankle with his studs showing!

I think you're being incredibly petty. There was nothing at all wrong with Flamini's tackle! Unlike Taylor, his feet were on the floor and he got the ball!

I assume when you're referring to Hoyte's 'swipes' at Nani, you mean when Nani was doing kick-ups and Hoyte was trying to get the ball. Hardly swipes! I guess it was in Arsenal's gameplan for Gallas to have a kick out at Nani? As for Eboue, he is an idiot and what he does on the pitch should not reflect Arsenal's behaviour. So, there you go. Four occassions on which you are overreacting.

If you want me to stop arguing, stop making digs at Arsenal!

My point could have been worded better, but there have been a lot worse tackles that haven't caused such criticism, just because they haven't caused injury. The seriousness of a tackle, shouldn't be judged on how serious an injury it causes.

Take off them Arsenal specs. Flamini's tackle was two-footed. Wenger didn't condemn Gallas or Eboue did he, instead he said Gallas had reasons and said he didn't see what Eboue did. Hoyte was swiping out at Nani's legs during the kick-ups then, once when Nani was turning around.

Right, I think I've proved my point, now for the 2nd time today, I'll ask you if you can return to the point of the thread.

A tackle should not be judged by how dangerous other tackles are. It's not a dangerous tackle because it caused an injury. Shearer's collision with Wayne Bridge causing him to break his ankle wasn't dangerous. Taylor's tackle was dangerous because it increased the chances of injury to the other player.

I'd rather you concentrated on how well Man Utd are doing rather than thinking of ways to belittle Arsenal and a Manger you don't like. I don't like Ferguson but you don't see me complaining about what he does or says and every which way he does it.

So what if Arsene Wenger didn't condemn the challenges? It doesn't mean it was a gameplan!

Flamini didn't tackle with 2 feet. He went for the ball with one. It's quite obvious the left leg was wide of Nani.

You can't take the thread off course, in the process, prevoking me and then tell me to return to the original point of the thread. If you really wanted this argument to end, you wouldn't respond.

Fraid you're wrong about the Flamini tackle Will. That was a pretty wreckless challenge, and if mis-timed would have been extremely nasty. Flamini definetly leaped into the challenge 2 footed, and if Nani had got the ball away from Flamini he would have been sent off for it, very dangerous challenge.

My new girfriend is well fit. I'm off to see her sexy legs which Martin Taylor would never dare tackle. Discussion over.

I'll admit that he leapt into it but his feet were on the ground at the point of contact. At least his right foot was.
