How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

Here's my squad for the 2011 World Cup:

On those stats, Sinclair gets the gloves, and poor old McCullum is another one you hope you never have to pick...

Yeah but look at the stumpings and catches? Either Sinclair has been used a lot as a specialist batsman.. Or he keeps like a C grade keeper. :p

Yeah that is far more likely due to being used as a specialist batsman (especially given that average). If he had no stumpings, you might suspect the game would not take him seriously as a keeper. But he has more than a few, so it is most likely a matter of luck whether he or McCullum drop more catches (and missed stumpings of course don't exist in the game) ;)

McCullum's batting has actually come on really well in the last year or so. At the start (in 2005) he was averaging like 20, and he was useless, but now he's more than handy down at 7/8. He's done pretty well to increase his average to 27, considering how low it started. At times I have dropped him and given Sinclair (or Papps) the gloves.

We bombed out big in the World Cup, only managing to finish 5th. We ****en lost to Bangladesh, in which if we'd won we would have finished 3rd. We also got rolled for only 101 against India, after being 40 odd for seven, which in the end cost us because we ended up missing out on NRR to Sri Lanka.

The only bright spot in the campaign was our demolition of Australia, where we chased down their 280 odd easily. I promoted McCullum to three to have a slog, and he smashed an unbeaten 125.

It all kind of sucked considering we were sitting so comfortably at one stage, winning our three group matches easily, and then beating Zimbabwe in our first match of the super eights. We then lost to Bangladesh before coming back strongly to smash Australia and South Africa, and at that stage we we sitting in second place, with only India ahead of us (who went on to win the World Cup unbeaten). Two massive losses in our final two matches to India and Sri Lanka knocked us out though.

This game is really starting to piss me off. I've lost count of how many times teams have chased down 400+ in the second innings in only 4 sessions, even tweaking Zimbabwe have done it against me.
Hint to the creators: It's only been done 4 times in history, not 4 times a tweaking year.

It's like at some point the game just decides that this is gonna be a 300 run partnership and it doesn't make a rat's ass difference if you bowl aggressive or defensive. The last batsman with his 29 average is gonna make a big hundred and the 15 average bowler will start eying off a maiden hundred. Maybe if I could produce a bowler who could average under tweaking 30 while every other country has bowlers averaging 22-25 :facepalm

I always thought this as well.. Its ridicolous how a team can chase 400+ in the final innings of a Test in any conditions. Just not realistic at all.

I've given up on this game for a while, too many unrealistic happenings for my liking. :noway

Cant believe that the newer versions have all these unrealistic things...:rolleyes In Icc2006, I am in my 2047 season as Surrey and in all these 41 seasons.....it was only 2 times I couldnt defend 490...and I also remember that one instance where I set Essex 483 & they came till 456 allout. Other than these, I was able to defend 400+ quite naturally on a 4th day track.

Also fewer instances where I couldnt defend some 320-330...

Lol, I know. Wish I could play ICC2006 on my iPhone.

Its the only way I play manager games these days though, through handheld, so I don't play ICC06 anymore.

@Sedition, yeah brother, I play on Easy too. Still a struggle for a nuggah!

Im finished with ICC11.

Just had to bat out the last day of the 3rd Test vs India at home. They make 350+ in there second innings on day 4. I come out for day 5 and suddenly its a dustbowl and their spinners clean me up for under 200.

If it was the other way around they would of defeated me no worries chasing 350 in a day and a session.

Lol yeah, I'm lucky to chase 250-300 in the last 4 sessions. The AI on the other hand, will chase 450 in that time for the loss of 4 wickets :facepalm The only reason I continue to play is because I save at the start of each innings and if the game turns to ???? because of something ridiculous, I task-kill it and start the innings again. If I lose in a realistic fashion, then I accept defeat.

That's one of the problems with all ICC games though. Like in my save in 2005 atm, it's very hard to win games that go into day five, for the reason you guys have outlined, so most games that go to day five end up as draws, because I make like 99% sure that they won't chase down what I set. Like a normal declaration for me would be 350 ahead just before the lunch break, even though in real life you'd be declaring with a lead a 350 late on day four. I try to allow for at least 150 runs a session that I'll be bowling in, and even a bit more for complete safety.

I have beaten this with Chanderpaul in my first season with the West Indies, averaging over 100 and scoring 2 300's and 3 150's the 7 century and 9 half century bat secures a dream season. Twice reaching 5 milestones and once hitting 3 centuries on the trot.
