play a 5 test series against South Africa. Got off to a good start with a few wickets and 95 with the bat, still lost the game.

Mmmm! Pretty nice! RSA team in there is really strong in Tests! Last night I was also buthchered by them 3-1 in a home series. Drew one Test match with a tiring 345 ball 176*. Still we're 8 down before the day ends! I'm playing as India.

after the triple century i posted up earlier, I decided to move up a difficulty to veteran. first 2 games at that level were pretty tough with a high of 33 from 4 innings, but just hit 66 and 84 vs Yorkshire to help us win: the 84 was off just 30 balls as we were set 151 to win in an hour and a quarter, which we just made! Was a bit gutted I couldn't go on for the ton or stay in for the win, but at least got my ave going back up! 84 is my highest career score on veteran.

Not so sure but I feel something like the "confidence" parameter works very well in veteran stage. Consecutive 40+ score with the bat and lasting for at-least 60 balls in a row, kinda giving me confidence and playing various shots were relatively easier! I remember the starting days on veteran where my 10 innings score was a mobile no (4-0-1-11-15-9-9-4-7-6) and the character was so low in confidence that almost every square-cut or forward drives were ending up in slip....... thanks BIGANT.. I felt that extremely pleasing! :clap

Nice mate, changed approach for batting at veteran or the same works??

More or less the same approach - maybe play myself in a little bit more conservatively before going big leg side or in front of the wicket but happy to play aggressive cuts/square drive from ball one

Thats nice to hear...Do include backfoot shots into the book as well...

I've made the switch too since making the international ODI team in career, it's a helluva lot harder but I have a bit of time on my hands at the moment. Key is patience when playing on Veteran, slower starts.

lol how disappointing is it to go out in the 90s? I mean...really disappointing!! gotta love cricket.

Yeah it definitely is! In my 3rd test and my first home game for England (playing South Africa), I scored 95 and then in the next match, I scored about 87. So annoying to get out for high scores

Started second year of career, still relatively hopeless with the bat, but it's my own fault for not messing about in the nets. Bowling wise is a dream and swing stats are really improving to the point it's a lot more noticeable and picking up wickets a bit more frequently in the last few matches, in fact not long taken my 100th wicket.

So far have only appeared for England in T20 games, 3 series against Pakistan, winning one match out of 9 in total......about standard for England.

lol yep. Its funny...I actually get a bit nervous when I'm in the 90s. I can be playing every shot as per normal...suddenly I realise I"m in the 90s...then its like every ball is suddenly faster or I play and miss more. I still do a fist pump for every century. Hell...I do a fist pump for almost every boundary on Legendary...esp when I've not had a boundary in a long time. Wife still thinks I'm crazy (or a child...or sometimes both).

That's why they call it the 'nervous nineties' :P

So got continuous centuries in both the innings of a test match...

The second hundred just played for fun as we had a lead of 400+ when I came in, as we all know the captain doesnt declare when the career player comes..So went on to score a century....

We went on posting a target of 752 runs..:lol
