How can England win the 2009 Ashes?

I don't think its fantasy for England to win the next Ashes, the 5-0 scoreline of the last series flattered the Australians, ok they won every game, but we ran them close and just didn't go that extra yard. Australia are now entering a new era and the psychological barrier of playing against Warne has gone. Yes Warne was world class but I think the England squad were beaten in their minds before facing him. England may not win, but I don't think it it wil be a walk in the park for Australia either.

I think England can win the Ashes if they win the majority of the Tests in the 5 match Ashes series - there is no other way IMO.

Thanks for telling us about that. I wouldn't of thought of that.

We'll have to see how Australia go without Warne and McGrath and how the new players fit in the team.

There is pelenty of time until that series and anything can happen.

We've got a young side so it could well have progressed to the point of peak by the time we get to 09.

I think The England selectors need to give Adil Rashid a chance. Don't you think?

Too hard to say. He has another summer ahead of him, we just have to see what happens, I can't see him making a debut vs Australia.

As much as we'd all love a world class leggie, he's not better than Swann or Monty, so shouldn't play. Oddly England aren't struglling for spinners atm, comes after about 8 years of Giles though!

I think England have a better chance in the next ashes because of the home advantage plus guys like Hayden,Gilly wont be there.

Off topic, but why do you support both Lancs and Yorkies at the same time?

And Worctershire (sp)

I think it could be a close series what's happened to Freddie anyway? I would love for it to be a good series but young players don't become amazing in 2 years as far as England are concerned!

Unless their already good, and you need amazing bowlers to beat Australia especially if they continue their test form as they have for the last year and a bit!
