NZ are certainly going places. It stars now. With talents such as Ryder, Flynn, Guptil, Taylor, and Southee, future looks promising.
@ OP, He will be ONE of NZ best ever player.

I really do think he could be one of the best players in the world, from what I've seen of him over the last 3-4 months he looks really good. Like someone has already said, batting at five he has scored 4 50's one 100, and 1 200. So he has never not made it to 50. I think the only reason he isn't being hyped up that much is because he is Kiwi. If he was Indian, English or an Aussie we would hear how great he is going to be 24/7. But I don't mind, and I don't think Jesse minds too much either, he seems to have a pretty good head on his shoulders. That was shown yesterday when he got out, he was furious. He slammed his bat down and just looked so angry at himself. And right at this moment, if you asked me which player I would want out of Duminy and Ryder, I would take Ryder.

Plus he can also bowl at around 130-135 and he gets abit of movement too.

He's a great find for NZ, after the retirement of Stephen Fleming, NZ needed someone like him. He's very aggressive and consistent. What's more impressive is that he's scored a double hundred against a very strong Indian bowling line up with Khan, Sharma, Harbhajan and he's done it under tremendous pressure. I would always expect him to average 50+ till the end of his career, he's a gun.

IMO it's better not to have too much hype. When new players get a lot of hype and fail to live up to their exceedingly high expectations, all hell breaks loose. Thing with Ryder is

I think Ryder has been the best batsman overall this entire series. He has been absolutely consistent and has chipped in with the ball as well. If this guy was Indian the hype would way over the top right now. :p

Jesse Ryder deserves Kevin Pietersen's IPL Contract

As per the spectator in today's match in NZ ;)

Not great player but yaa has potensiol

It depends upon his confidence!!!!!

Jesse Ryder can best batman in world one day if he is not drinker :)

Pretty much word for word what I would've said, although after looking at some highlights he does need to control himself a bit on the field as well, he shouldn't have done what he did when he got out.

I saw the highlights of it, bit shocked he got so angry for getting out after making such a big score. But if the ICC charge him then he probably won't do that again.

Yea he didnt need to do that... but I think he was just pissed at giving his wicket away, because he didnt look like getting out before that. with the slips being put to crazy set ups like 2nd, 4th, and gully. I rate him, he took to test cricket really well. But look at mike hussey, he took to test cricket really well and cant get more than 20 runs atm. so time will tell. but yes Ryder over Duminy any day... Ryder can play the short ball which at test level if you cant do you wont do too well. Not when playing against a good pace attack.

It's his bat and he can throw it if he likes, so long as it's not at anyone. I think it's pathetic that such a small issue can create such a stir.

jesse ryder is a lump of enormous talent...he has tremendous potential and all he needs to do is stay off the off-field controversies..he will go a monumentally long way as bumble describes it..

Jesse Ryder is a wonderful talent and a player who could go down as one of the greats of this era. He is a brilliant timer of the ball & he is one of the few batsman we've produced that seem to be able to adjust to the situation, something we just haven't had in a batsman since Martin Crowe.

I just hope he doesn't screw himself over, because I just get this feeling if he can keep the incidents to a minimum, by the end of his career, he will be one of the greats of New Zealand Cricket, if not the greatest.
