and he must reduce his weight too

Why? There's no need. He played that 200 innings without suffering cramp, slowing down or getting tired. He's as athletic in the field as most of the team. There's really no reason. Getting rid of some weight might make his natural timing and power go away a tad.

People need to give him a break. He's probably in the top 5 batsmen in the world at the moment on form in my opinion. If he was an Aussie or Indian he'd probably have a lot bigger hype put on to him.

I would say he would be the most athletic player in the NZ team, his fielding is outstanding. Anyone who thinks he has to loose some weight hasn't watched him play cricket.

but he sometimes gets lazy with the foot work

When, I haven't seen that. In ODI's he sometimes tries to hard to stick with McCullum and throws his wicket away. But I have yet to see his footwork get him out in a Test Match Innings. His technique is so simple, it's perfect.

He Looks Good Technicalyy has ood power But he has to loose some weight and brcome fitter to be be a good player:happy

he could well be fit, some people are just heavy and extensive effort to loose weight could actually be bad for him.

as long as he feels good and fit he'll be fine, cricket's not a game where weight is going to severly hamper you, it's not like he needs to keep running at a high pace for hours and hours and being heavy will make that harder. he can stay out there a long time without cramp, he even seems to be new zealands go to part-time bowler, I don't think his fitness has been exposed. Compare him to shah who had to retire with cramps and got out with lazy running, that's fitness not being good enough.

I wouldn't back him to make a very quick single with a diving finish maybe but so what?

also the footwork thing is nonsense, it's fine, very good in fact, just he's able to play in that hand-eye style way like sehwag so it's been assumed he must also have the weak points that normally come with that.

Basically, he's probably technically the best cricketer under about 27-28 that's playing cricket right now. that's not me getting carried away.

even in australia where he was pretty poor, his main problem was shot selection. that's the easiest flaw to iron out, you just get better at taking your time and judging. if you have all the shots, and you see the ball early and play it late like him, that's going to sort itself out in no time.

Not neccessarily, I don't see why people have to be fit in the sense of an athelete, just look at Inzamam Ul Haq a great of the last decade but he was most definetly not overly fit.

Thing is that despite being fat Ryder is still better than most of the Indian fielders (cough Yuvraj cough). His body type isn't affecting his fielding, bowling, or batting. In fact he is probably a better batsman because of it. I've even seen him take some good diving catches. He's fine, probably just needs some more stamina.

Jesse Ryder is one of my favorite player now :D plays shots with perfection and timings !

Really excited to see him bat and hope he knocks a 50 tomorrow

He is only 24.

yep, which is under 27-28.

the only more complete players are the ones that are putting their experience to better use. he needs to judge what he should leave and play a bit better. Gambhir is a good example of this currently playing well. suffered the same problems with shot selection earlier in his career and now looks very solid. Ryder will be better than gambhir if he sorts this out.

mind you, gambhir, duminy, ryder, hughes, these are the new faces of cricket right now, now along with Smith, Gayle other young stars where are the right handers? KP is probably the only really good right hander under 30 just now. ross taylor is a bit streaky, clarke isn't more than alright, bell is garbage. Oh, there is Sarwan and de villiers i guess. even shakib hasan, bangladesh's most exciting talent is a lefty.

Ryder is about to get a really good opportunity to prove his greatness as a batsman. It'd be nice if he could repeat his double-century heroics, then score another century after that, and then maybe one more. New Zealand would probably still lose, but it'd make for some great Test cricket.

That is the funniest thing I have read on this site, because it is true. A double ton on a flat deck and suddenly he is the next "big thing" in international cricket.

Alright dickhead, apparently Indians have the best bowlers and batters in the world.

Ryder didnt once look like getting out on that deck, infact the only reason he got out was because he chopped on. If it was such a flat deck how come NZ's dire bowlers bowled India out for 320 odd in the first innings.

Didnt you see his ton in the first test? One of the best innings you could see with the score at what it was when he came in.

Face it hes going to be a star.
