I'm back after a forced 4 day leave cuz of a malaria. It was a tweaking chloroquine resistant strain. My 4 days stay in Hospital burned a 26000 INR hole in my pocket. I'm not complaining as they treated really well and i got cured so soon. But, What if someone from the low income group in India get sick. I dont think they would be able to shell out this kind of money just in 4 days. Govt. should seriously think about subsidizing meds for them.

83K is pretty damn good mate. What was your lowest? Last year i had malaria and my platelet count was 25K which is dangerously low I was walking back to home that day as if I was drunk.

77K. Actually I went to hospital with a constant fever for 2 days and doctor decided to admit me on the doubt of dengue which later confirmed. My platelets at first day were 1,16000 which kept on decreasing.

PS: Posting this just after giving blood test. Reports should come at evening.

I think it's really sad that a map of where diseases like those are still commonplace and where they have been wiped out pretty much corresponds directly to the wealth of each nation.

Hope you get better soon, but I really hope that soon we can live in a world where it isn't ever an issue.

83k platlets! are you sure? I had 29000 (or may be WBC ) when I was infected by dengue last year.
