'I don't have a chance to play for India' - Bose

Just look at Pakistan's modern day 'express' bowlers; A fat, arrogant druggie and Mohammad 'Lolz' Sami.

And Pakistan fans have the nerve to criticize India's 'express' bowlers. Lol.

Put it this way; Who's the all-time leading Test wicket taking fast bowler? Glen McGrath. He was mighty express wasn't he?

Exactly my point.
All you need to do is put the ball in the right zones, and get the variations right. Fast bowling isn't about knocking the batsman's head off, it's about probing the off stump, making him nervous with some quick bouncers and crafty slower deliveries, getting it to swing and seam off the pitch. The only places I see sheer pace come into the picture is with bouncers and yorkers.

Yup. In fact, Brett Lee is the only actual fast bowler (with the exception of the oft-injured Shane Bond) that can keep it fast and accurate. He was drubbed when he was just out and out fast but he is far more successful now.

Ummm......... aren't we getting a bit off-topic?
This thread is about "Ronodev Bose". Not about "Fast Bowling" or "Bowling Speeds"

Yeah, Getting back on topic...

If Bose can bowl accurately and get the ball to move then it should be good enough but India do have some good bowlers at the moment with Zaheer, RP Singh, Ifran Pathan and the spinners so it would be difficult to get in the side without something extra like pace. All Bose can do is keep taking wickets and the chance will come sooner or later.

The chance will probably never come. Ask Amol Mazumdar. Some of the best domestic players get ignored all the time due to regional bias.

You're right, he won't get picked. However, I don't think it is regional bias.

Bose will never get picked for India. The selectors don't think that, bowling 120kph, he will trouble international batsmen. They are probably right, but touring with the A team to a strong country will end that doubt - shame the BCCI choose to go with fast bowling talents ten times out of ten over proven medium pacers.

What's with all these topic Nazis? As Evo said, it's called thread evolution, and some moderators aren't allowing this to happen...

I hope he does get a chance to play for India. He's got the stuff, all he needs to do is go on hot streak and bag like 10 wickets in a match for 5 matches and FORCE them to pick him.

Horrible attitude from him, though. He's being negative, this way he'll never get in the team. He doesn't believe in himself, it won't happen.

Mazumdar may have been kept out due to politics because there is no other obvious reason I can think of that he was kept out of the side. I'm sure someone like iceman_waugh can shed some light on this as he seems to have some knowledge of the history of the selection process in Indian cricket, especially when we had that zonal crap.

It was actually evo.

My bad. Edited.

I've heard things about this bloke, although not in too much detail. Any info?

If he is a middle order batsman, then there is a pretty obvious reason that he was kept out of the side.

He's been the core of the Mumbai middle-order for the last decade or so and one of the players strongly responsible for Mumbai's dominance of the domestic competition over that period.

Glenn Mcgrath in his prime bowled in the 135kph region. This is not express, but notice his impecable accuracy and seam movement which set him apart. People without either impecable accuracy, movement or experience should compensate with youth, energy and pace.

Currently, India have:

Sreesanth: 135kph
RP Singh: 135kph
Ishant Sharma: 135kph (goes down as low as 120kph)
Munaf Patel: 135kph (in his stride)
Zaheer Khan: 130kph
Irfan Pathan: 130kph

All these people are young, but none can generate frightening pace for more than one spell. The lack of 140kph bowlers in India is a worrying problem. If you look at all of the dominating Test teams of the past, they all had at least one bowler who bowled in the 140kph or over bracket.

That being said, India should not neglect proven medium pacers in the search for a RF or LF bowler.

The speed guns are really finicky, by the way. In India RP Singh was apparently bowling at 145 kph regularly when Shoaib was bowling in the mid 150's.
