"I hate myself" - Lou Vincent admits depression

I am not sure that the illness is cricket related, but if it is, it just goes to show how mentally consuming the game is. A rut of bad innings can seem never ending and running in 30m to have the ball deposited over the boundary can spiral anyone into depression, granted an already weakened mental state.

You guys probably don't realize how badly this guy has been shafted over the last few years by the selectors and Bracewell.

I hope he does return at some stage and is treated properly. There was a big article in the Star Times over here about it. He was dropped in tests after averaging something like 7 from his last 9 innings coming off 92 or something. Also in that recent series where he played in SA he was told a short time before the game that he was playing. Just stupid stuff like that. Plus his exit from the World Cup after being injured in the nets.

He's been through a lot.

I'm a little bit annoyed that how Hooper and Scion seemed to react to it.

...Wow

and making a stupid joke arn't very good comments to make. Next time just don't post at all.

I thought it was a sincere shock "...Wow" rather than a sarcastic one.

Yeah, your right Manee. I thought this guy was a top bloke and he played well over here in Aus just last summer over here in the CB series, and now 12 months later he is battling depression and contemplating never playing Int. Cricket again. I was shocked.

In that case I apologize. It seemed like the kinda,

...Wow I don't care kinda comment.

Vincent is one of my favorite players so I wish him the best.

Sorry if anyone feels I posted it as a joke. I just was adding two cricketers suffering from stress problem in one. Would anyone have come hard at me had i written this
He should bat his way out of depression. :upray

Sad to hear this. I wonder what triggered the problem, sounds from what irottev posted he was treated like crap.

Most of our cricketers have been treated badly under the current selectors and Bracewell.

I think the volume of names who retired prematurely speaks for itself.

TBH you cant blame selectors for this. He has done nothing of note since World Cup.

There can be lot of reasons for depression. As Animator said the real reason for Tresco's depression was the time he spent away from family.

You don't know a lot about how he was treated, so I can indeed blame them. I'm not blaming them for it totally. It just wouldn't have helped him. I can't imagine the stress he was put though. That test he played in South Africa , he found out he was playing in it 30 minutes before the game started.

A good reason why he's done nothing of note since the World Cup is because of how he's been screwed around. Matthew Sinclair is in the same boat. Michael Mason to a lesser degree and Patel also.

Probably thats why they are joining ICL then.
