Can't wait for the WC. Still 2 years!! I hope that I will be able to fly down to West Indies to watch a few matches in which India is playing. Laters!

Well India seem to be in a pretty easy group this time around, unlike last time.

It would be awesome to catch a match of the world cup, especially in the carribbean which I've always wanted to visit, especially Port of Spain, Trinidad.

It'd be good if the UAE or Oman qualify and are put in group 2, then group 2 would be like a mini Asian Cup!

Group 3 could well be interesting. On current form, Kenya will probably lose against the qualifiers, and England can be ropey in ODIs. A qualifer could get through to the Super 8 stage from that group, and possibly from groups 4 and 2 too.

Here are my teams which will go to the Super 8 stages

Group 1: Obviously Australia & South Africa
Group 2: India and Sri Lanka
Group 3: England and Kenya
Group 4: Pakistan and Zimbabwe

I would like to know how the Super 8 stages would be. Would it be one team against the remaining 7 teams or would be it from one group against another group? I think it might be the second.

You seriously think that on current form, Kenya (who recently were thrashed by Scotland and struggled against Namibia) would qualify ahead of New Zealand? If Kenya were playing in the ICC Trophy, I doubt they'd even qualify.

And Zimbabwe qualifying ahead of the West Indies? You're joking right.....

The Super 8 format is the same as the super 6 format, but with 8 teams. Every team would play 6 more games, against the teams from other groups.

Sorry, forgot to mention. All my guess is based on my instinct not on current form.

Sai you got to be joking, England and kenya, um last time I checked Nzl were ranked number 2 in the od table. So I think in that group It will be NZL and maybe England. You say instinct, so what Australia beat us 5-0, if we didn't lose our nerve in the first game the series might of been different. Ain't no way kenya will ever beat nzl, and england are a good test side, but not a good one day side.

So here's my picks to qualify

Group 1
Australia
South Africa

Group 2
Sri Lanka
Bangladesh(heh, sai jking, India)

Group 3
New Zealand
England

Group 4
Pakistan
West Indies

The first round is basically a warm-up round. I guess they should not be playing any warm-up games. :D I don't see any of the non-top teams going into the Super 8 stage.

I disagree. Groups 3 and 4 certianly have a chance of a minor team getting through, considering how ropey England and the West Indies can be in ODIs.

Group 4 would the the toughest...considering if zimbabwe ever come back to their full strength.
I feel the super 8 will see the teams broken up in two groups and the top two would qualify for the semi finals.
Also the groups have been given a n island each
Group 1 - St Kitts & Nevis
Group 2 - Trinidad & Tobago
Group 3 - St Lucia
Group 4 - Jamaica

It usually helps to read the rest of the thread. Here is what I said in an earlier post.

good choice of countries.
but i'd like to see one of these actually give a fight to one of the lower placed cricketing nations(zim, bangla, ken)
