I will watch this tournament for sure. One thing is, its in the West Indies and the timings will be awesome for North American viewers.:banana2

Five rookies in New Zealand's World Twenty20 pool | Cricket News | ICC World Twenty20 2010 | Cricinfo.com

NZ 30-man preliminary squad has been announced.

Cricinfo said:
Brent Arnel, Shane Bond, Neil Broom, Ian Butler, Brendon Diamanti, James Franklin, Martin Guptill, Gareth Hopkins, Jamie How, Peter Ingram, Michael Mason, Brendon McCullum, Nathan McCullum, Peter McGlashan, Andy McKay, Kyle Mills, Rob Nicol, Kieran Noema-Barnett, Jacob Oram, Jeetan Patel, Aaron Redmond, Jesse Ryder, Bradley Scott, Mathew Sinclair, Tim Southee, Shanan Stewart, Scott Styris, Ross Taylor, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori

Some interesting and new faces. Diamanti back in the mix, as is Jamie How, Aaron Redmond and Mathew Sinclair. Diamanti and Redmond must be considered specialist t20 now I suppose. Uncapped players are Brent Arnel which isn't a surprise; Rob Nicol, who had been playing well in domestic short form and can bowl; Kieran Noema-Barnett which is a bit of a surprise, though he can hit the ball very far; Bradley Scott was in the squad for the last T20 World Cup as well but didn't get a game; and Shanan Stewart which I suppose is a very good thing, with most people on the forums calling for his inclusion.

India will win the world cup t20 2010 best of luck for India

Lol, Noema-Barnett...
He played one good innings in the T20 final, outside that he has literally done nothing.

Only really a couple of places up for grabs, probably one pace bowling slot, and one middle order batsman slot.

A good several of those guys named in the 30 man squad have no chance of making the 15 man squad, heck two or three of them don't even deserved to be named. I'd love to see Shanan Stewart named but I highly doubt that happens (even though he's one of the best 20/20 batsmen we have) Would like to see this team/squad named:

1.Brendon McCullum (WK)
2.Jesse Ryder
3.Martin Guptill
4.Ross Taylor
5.Scott Styris
6.Shanan Stewart
7.Daniel Vettori
8.Nathan McCullum
9.Kyle Mills
10.Tim Southee
11.Shane Bond

Would be the best 11 in the West Indian conditions IMO, New Zealand would also bat pretty deep with that team also. Bond and Mills would open the bowling, Southee would bowl at the death, and McCullum and Vettori would bowling during the middle overs. Styris and Ryder would also be useful.

12.Gareth Hopkins/Peter McGlashan (I'd much rather see McGlashan)
13.Darryl Tuffey
14.Jacob Oram/James Franklin (I can't split the awfulness)
15.Neil Broom?

It's 20/20, so I have no idea how far they could go. The bowling would look to be the strength though.

Disappointed not to see Williamson there? Or not a T20 man?

Haha, well he's not seen as a 20/20 player by Northern Districts. He'd probably be alright if he wasn't batting at eight however :facepalm His non-selection is just though.

My side for World T20

Shane Bond
James Franklin
Martin Guptill
Gareth Hopkins
Brendon McCullum
Nathan McCullum
Andy McKay
Kyle Mills/Ian Butler
Jesse Ryder/Aaron Redmond
Tim Southee
Shanan Stewart
Scott Styris
Ross Taylor
Daryl Tuffey
Daniel Vettori

I think Stewart will be the bolter in the side, Butler and Redmond would be my reserve choices if Ryder & Mills aren't ready before that time.

It looks like a good enough side to win it, however i'm not gonna hold out much hope in that happening.
