Wow what does that say about the PCB? Even if your caught red handed cheating they'll let you keep the captaincy.

I would have banned Afridi for life for bringing Pakistan cricket into disrepute, cheating while the captain.

Its a pity that we have to pick the probables before the IPL action started. Guys like Saurabh Tiwary, Ambati Rayudu, Murali Kartik, Irfan Pathan who have done really well in the IPL stand no chance of making it to the final squad (unless injuries happen to key players, which we dont want).

If Gambhir's injury is serious enough not to play the WC T20, they should select Saurabh Tiwary as the replacement. Ishant is surety after he has done decently well for KKR. Zaheer and Ishant will make a good combination now that Ishant is finding his feet in the format. Praveen should be the other bowler.

The only other real option they had is Salman Butt and he should have been chosen because this is another step back.

Well TBH, Afridi was the only realistic option. Butt cant gurantee a T20 position as Hafeez in great form, Nazir and Akmal are more adaptable T20 openers. Misbah may have the experience but he is making a comeback. I think now that Afridi has payed his fine maybe we can move on

As long as Pakistan give Afridi some apples before the match hes the perfect captain for them.

Looks like Lee won't be making the squad so the sight of the 4 pacemen won't be there although Harris, Tait, Johnson and Nannes is still pacy.

The Indian team has been announced. Mediocre to say the least. I don`t see them going anywhere near the semi finals. Vinay Kumar should`nt be anywhere near the national side nor should Nohit Sharma. Yuvraj is in horrific form. Gambhir, Dhoni might not be fully fit. It is going to be a repeat of the last year`s performance.

For some reason, I don`t feel bad when we lose T20s, one the format is something which I do not take seriously and the other being the fact that the T20 squad acts as if they own the game. I felt more disappointed when we were knocked out of the Champions Trophy last year than the T20 WC.
I`d rather have us lose this and do well in he `real` World Cup next year.

I disagree. This is the best place to try out Vinay Kumar. He doesn't look like a world beater, but it's just Twenty20.

The more disappointing selection is Rohit Sharma over Manish Pandey or Virat Kohli. How does this guy keep getting selected? He's definetely got some people banking on him in the selection committee. Yusuf Pathan is meh too for me. Would've rather gone Irfan (should've been included in the T20 probables in the first place - he's had a really good domestic season, so it was really disappointing to not see him there).

Anyone else hoping that Murali Kartik would've somehow made the squad? I know he wasn't in the probables, but currently, he's got to be the best spinner in India. Definetely in the T20 format.

Vinay and Chawla in World Twenty20 squad | Cricket News | ICC World Twenty20 2010 | Cricinfo.com

Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Vinay Kumar, Rohit Sharma

Ojha or Karthik should definitely have been in the squad. Ojha has done nothing wrong to get the axe. Yusuf can only score runs against mediocre attacks in the IPL/Domestic cricket. Would`ve picked Irfan over Yusuf any day. Vinay Kumar is`nt even International T20 class. He is just a glorified version of Joginder Sharma.

Uthappa, Manish Pandey and Kohli all deserved to get a look in ahead of Nohit Sharma.

Manish Pandey over Rohit Sharma
Irfan Pathan over Yusuf Pathan
Pragyan Ojha over Vinay Kumar (when you bowl as slowly as Vinay Kumar, you might as well be taken as a spinner)

I am happy with Piyush Chawla's selection though. I thought he was unfairly treated. He last bowled on the flattest tracks in the history of cricket.

I would have gone in with a surprise pick like Umesh Yadav who looks impressive rather than Vinay Kumar who is just a bits and pieces cricketer. Some of the mindless batting in the IPL has made him look good, nothing else.
