Why ramble about the pitch ? Indian batsmen aren't well-equipped to handle rank turners/ wickets that aid the bowlers. I used to think that the India of old was incapable of doing so,but atleast they put up a fight. The current team just needs wickets wherein the ball comes on to the bat nicely; like they call it in gully cricket(patta-flat-wicket). If a team can only perform on such wickets, would you really want to call them World Champions ?

I'm not against Team India. It's simply very disturbing to see that no effort seems to have been put in to counter such wickets. We've lost many a match in the recent past(across all formats) whenever the pitch has been leaning towards the bowling side. Despite that, the management doesn't seem to be making any progress on such wickets. And if the team only prefers playing on a particular kind of wicket, I don't think people are going to like it.

Seriously? These days, India have been playing way better wickets that help the bowlers. In fact its almost been ironical that our team looks a lot more competitive when there is more grass/movement off the pitch. Our bowlers get the support and our batsmen are adept enough to stay on it (the likes of Rohit, Kohli, Yuvraj, Rahane, etc.). And we won the Asia Cup on pretty challenging wickets for batsmen. Also I still back our batsmen on turning wickets. We are a lot more aggressive against spinners today than we used to be earlier. In such a scenario, there will be one offs where things won't click and you will end up with an egg on your face. But one offs are not meant to be used to make decisions on how a team seems to fare in certain conditions.

I don't want to pass a judgement on your opinions, but my opinion is that you seem a little too over-critical of our team these days.

I agree that they have improved and are in a position to face any team fearlessly. But, they are still amateur to win this "tournment".

Never say never :)

No one gave SL a chance in 1996 pre-tournament

Looks like I am gonna lose my 3rd straight sportsbook event. :( India, Eng & SL.

Dilshan seems to be playing well - getting 7-8 runs per over and keeping one end tied up

Are you watching or following on a website?

He has been swinging across the line and that's all. If Afghanistan had fielded well, this chase would be a whole lot more interesting. Dilshan is the MOST overrated limited overs batsman of all time.

Oh really? Just been following on cricinfo

I thought he was back in form LOL[DOUBLEPOST=1458234954][/DOUBLEPOST]Matthews at 6 gives a very Dhoni-esque vibe sometimes - very calm and cool, and delivers more often than not

He's just been swinging off his feet. I remember two full tosses that went for boundaries, both of which were schoolboy errors in the field. When the spinners had him choked he went for two reverse sweeps which barely missed the stumps. The 17 year old leggie almost had him caught at short third twice when he went for a contemporary cover drive. Afghanistan have given away 20 runs (easy) in the field. As an opponent, I'd love to see Dilshan's name at the top of the order. He either gets out, or he will make a NON IMPACT 50.

Agree with Matthews.

Pakistan and the Windies have looked the most dangerous so far. To me that's unexpected, especially the Pakistanis and knowing them, it could all change in a minute.

Not being over-critical Sai.

The one-offs seem to happen far too frequently for our team. I agree with your point re: the Asia cup where we won on challenging pitches, but overall, the team just seems to crumble in difficult conditions. As they won they Asia cup post the batting collapse in the first match, I'm sure they'll learn to adapt again here-but the story seems to repeat itself in every tournament we play.

Selectors picked a team that bats all the way down, bowling could be an issue if the seam all rounders don't perform.

Good over from Zampa followed by a wicket next over. Starting to think we should have gone with two leggies in the squad now.

Right. In India Spinners are more successful than Pacers. As you seen now Maxwell picked the 2nd wicket.

I must be blind, because i can't see any trashing in figures of 0-30 in 4 overs.

Difference of opinion on the ability, skill and talent of players can happen, In my case I look for things other than previous records, A bad bowler can not be labeled as a great bowler even if some day he can take 10 wickets even lol, Plenty of examples. I just want Wahab to have more focus on his abilities rather than media and his fans feedback on him, people banking too much on his Watson facing story. Its over way past and not only Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis was also not happy with Wahab saying that He is highly in-consistent. Sami on the other hand, Performed way better than Wahab in terms of looking promising while Wahab just had pace with zero line and length off-late in the International Matches. Nevethless, For the past 5 years now he is inconsistent. He is less than currently what some people are expecting from him
