A loss would have thrown us out. India's NRR was the weakest and there is no way we could have pushed above both Pakistan and Australia. Somehow luck got on our side. But we need victories like this to propel our campaign. We had two bad games in the 2011 WC, one that defeat to SA and the other the tie against England. But we held our nerves and got forward.

I am not a believer in this "we don't deserve the trophy, blah blah blah" theory. The team that wins it, deserves it. In a format where one over or even a few balls can change the whole story of the game, from where the heck do people talk about "deserving and not deserving"? Absolute rubbish. If India go on to make the final and win it, they would've deserved the trophy. Today Bangladesh handed it to us but we took it to that position where they had that brain freeze.

I think that one line makes this a certain nominee for post of the year. Very few people realise what it's like to be part of a team, grow with it, lead it, succeed with it and fail with it. I've been very fortunate to witness all of this at a certain level. I still maintain that MSD's captaincy at various stages was poor, but the guy is an OUTSTANDING wicketkeeper. It will as usual slip under the carpet, like Jadeja's contribution, but the guy is pure magic. I don't know about you guys but I feel more convinced after every game for the need of another spinner if Dhoni is so reluctant to use Raina/Yuvraj when need be. Also, like @SaiSrini pointed out, such games make teams bond better and if anything they'll be better now than an easy 30 run win.

Just a word on Bangladesh- I would genuinely feel bad for any team that would have lost it like they did, but boy have their fans had it coming. I was hoping for a grade A spanking, but this is sweeter. Mushfiqur's reaction after the lap shot for a boundary now is comedy gold in the history books. Perhaps, they can now post pictures of half shaven Indians promoting the cutter. May be some of their cricketers can help with the article once they're home because they aren't going any further in this WC. Thanks for coming! I wouldn't change a darn thing! :lol

Would like to ask all Pakistani fans what Javed Miandad got by bringing up late Bob Woolmer and Hansie Cronje in a post match analysis? I know he was a great batsman but boy he's so far up his own rear end.

What did he say ?

I know Pandya was anything but good as far as his bowling was concerned, but one thing that really impressed me was his attitude towards the last over and his calm temperament - the dude kept smiling from the beginning till the end. Usually when you are in such a situation, your face can reflect the pressure you are feeling

you couldn't see that on his face at all .. even when he was spanked for a couple of boundaries. He behaved like you would in an IPL dead rubber game. Have high expectations from him

I feel we played well right until the very end. We really need to build up the mentality of winning big matches like this, or else we just can't win them despite having the required skill. I still hope we can end the tournament on a high with a win against NZ, even though it's highly unlikely.
Why is it unlikely? It's 100% possible!

MSD ypu beauty, using the best set of fielders and bowlers in right places and right times that's great!

Just watched the highlights. Exhilarating. Dhoni with that hug of Nehra - did he turn the clock back to 2007?:D Those last 3 balls were manic. Dhoni due to his enormous experience took on a battle of his running speed vs Mustafizur's running speed. And Dhoni won. Also Dhoni didn't flick the ball onto the stumps. He went all the way through to avoid any ricochet or a missed chance. And Dhoni took his gloves almost before the delivery was bowled, knowing what is going to happen. This last ball is a real highlight for MS Dhoni's captaincy (though I have been a staunch critic of his captaincy in recent times). This was one instance where his acumen worked so well.

I still don't understand why is he under-bowling Yuvraj? Pandya is good, but on turning wickets, give Yuvraj more overs and Pandya less overs. Not asking to give Yuvi the last over, but if he had bowled earlier, maybe Bumrah could've bowled the last over and we could've won bigger. But the ifs and buts apart, now we technically have 3 games to go with Australia as the first target. And remember in the 2011 WC, we won 3 knockouts in a row to win the trophy with Australia being the first knockout.

I also felt the same, the thing was even though he wasnt bowling well aslo when he has already given two fours he was still in the game, even the whole team, normally by that time, we would have had dropped shoulders and sulking fielders, but everyone from MS to nehra to jadu was in the game, kohli maybe silked a bit after the two fours but the moment we got a wkt he was there jabbering away as usual! It was like we were on top than ban, who after the two fours just started looking bewildered after each delivery, also the last ball pretty good from pandya, as its easy to loose the length in such pressure and bowl one in slot but well done. If we can display this attitude in all situations it will really help!

Things that made #India win the match against #Bangladesh:

  1. Even though Bumrah had a bad day, Dhoni had faith in him & he conceded only 5 or 6 runs in the penultimate over
  2. Jadeja's athletism & wickets
  3. Dhoni had taken out his gloves & was ready to run out in the last ball
  4. conersation between Dhoni and Nehra through which Pandya kept his nerves
  5. HEROES------------ MSD,PANDYA,JADEJA,NEHRA,BUMRAH
WHAT DO U GUYS FEEL ABOUT THIS THRILLER WITH CLIMAX PART[DOUBLEPOST=1458795851][/DOUBLEPOST]HAPPY HOLI TO ALL

MS DHONI IS THE FASTEST SPEED IN THE WORLD HE IS 100G
WHAT DO U THINK?

What are you guys on about Pandya keeping his nerves? He bowled 2 full tosses which should have gone out the ground and a short ball which was a wide(not called) which should have been cut for 4. The fact that bangladesh screwed up doesn't change it from being poor bowling to good bowling.

He's an idiot, plain and simple. Whenever he took up a role with the Pakistan team, it always ended in his resignation due to him fighting with the players. Whenever Pakistan lose, he wants the whole team to be thrown out, and whenever we win, he praises everyone.

Miandad is a MeanDad for pak cricketers! he was a great batsman. He is probably one of the earliest finisher in limited overs games, before bevan and MSD but as a coach or advisor, he is nt great!

I will never forget him threatening to jumpout of the balcony waving madly to Moin khan on how to hit of the last over in that 350 chase match!

NehraJi was a legend even then :p

I still dont think India is a contender for this trophy. Our team seems to have forgotten batting here, especially on home grounds. One thing I must point out here are the words of R Ashwin, who perfectly summed up India's campaign so far. Even , he is of the opinion that a team playing like this doesn't deserve to be champions.

I have also seen a video where MSD has blasted a journalist who asked a relevant question. Truth be told, there was nothing wrong in the journalist asking him regarding the NRR and the need for India to have won by a huge margin. It was widely expected that we blast Bangladesh; however our batsmen tripped up and we definitely fell short yesterday.

I wish there be a change in the team at least for the Australia game if we are to make a match of it. Get in Rahane for Dhawan & Negi for Raina. But knowing MSD< there wont be any change.

Akthar's reaction is priceless & it was the best match ever IMO.

Rahane should replace Dhawan & Yuvi should bowl, if we need to win on this kinda turning pitches...
