I think that's just a recent development.

I can't remember if I used the old County Championship points system or tweaked it myself, but I think the one I used in WoC is much more balanced and fair.

Win: 12 points / Tie: 8 points / Draw: 4 points / N/R: 2 point / Loss: 0 points

Bonus Points

* awarded only for performances in the first 100 overs of each first innings and retained regardless of the result of the match

Batting Points

200-249 runs - 1 point | 250-299 runs - 2 points | 300-349 runs - 3 points | 350+ runs - 4 points

Bowling Points

4-5 wickets - 1 point | 6-7 wickets - 2 points | 8-9 wickets - 3 points | 10 wickets - 4 points
