The first day of the first Npower test match at Lord's has already been completed. England captain Michael Vaughan called Heads and won the coin toss. He decided that his team should bowl first.
In an interview with Empire Interactive's Jonathan Agnew, Michael Vaughan that the pitch is best for bowling.
Jonathan Agnew: "Michael, why have you elected to bowl first?"
Michael Vaughan: "The pitch is damp and the outfield is very slow, so the batsman will struggle to score runs. There won't be much in it for our fast bowlers because there is even bounce, but spin bowling will be suited on this strip."
Jonathan Agnew: "You better get ready for play, Michael. Bye for now."
Michael Vaughan: "Thanks very much Jonathan, bye for now."
When play began, England's bowlers started poorly and the Bangladesh batsman made some early runs. The outfield wasn't as slow as first thought. A superb innings of 126 by Aftab Ahmed showcased this. Around him, Javed Omar was bowled by Ashley Giles for only 13, Rajin Saleh fell to the same fate for just 2, and Sanwar Hossain went in exactly the same way for a good 63. So at Tea on the first day, the Bangladesh scorecard looked like this.

Also, the bowling figures looked like this. Success only for Ashley Giles.

When play resumed, Bangladesh collapsed. Nobody started to get going and they loss wickets frequently. They were all out for 276. So at the end of the innings the scorecard looked like this.

Also, the bowling figures looked like this. The other bowlers found success too, but Ashley Giles was brilliant.

England had a short while to bat after that innings, and Andrew Strauss made all of the runs. So at the close of play England's scorecard looked like this.

Also, the bowling figures looked like this. Nothing has happened yet.

Coming shortly is the report from day two of the first Npower test match at Lord's between England and Bangladesh.
