Independant Wrestling Federation

The Independant Wrestling Federation was created in February 1997, as an alternative to the big two in the WWF and WCW, created by Tobie Chapman, the current booker, and Jerry Jarrett, the owner. ECW and IWF exchanged talent until the death of ECW, in mid 1997, IWF is now known, 7 months later, as a company that is utilising talent that has been rejected before, and making them top draws, IWF has just moved to National level, and are the 3rd most popular promotion in the country, with only Overdose Wrestling, a new company run by Stu Hart, at backyard level, behind them.

IWF started with a weekly show on Monday Nights on USA straight after Monday Night RAW, but was cancelled after a measly 3 shows, IWF's first Event was IWF: Epidemic which crowned the first ever IWF: World champion, in the veteran Fit Finlay, who defeated the soon to be WWF bound, 'Mr. Perfect' Curt Hennig.

The next event, IWF: Sleep Tight, saw the start of the still running fued, between 'The Fighting Irishman' Fit Finlay and 'The Heart Of Extreme' Tommy Dreamer, in which the Irishman came out on top after a vicious Piledriver, WWF rejects, The Hardyz, and Edge + Christian's fued over the newly created IWF: Tag Team championship continued, but without Christian, who had commintments with NJPW in Japan, meaning Edge had to find a partner, who turned out to be D-Von Dudley, the Hardyz came out on top, cementing their status as the Number 1 contenders.

At IWF: Welcome To The Jungle, E+C came out on top with a huge victory over the Hardyz to continue their Tag reign. Jerry Jarrett's son 'Double J'Jeff, jumped to IWF, and was immediately confronted by 'Mr Sunday Nights' Rob Van Dam who issued a challenge for the next event.
The fued between Tommy Dreamer and Fit Finlay for the IWF: World championship continued, but Fit came out on top again, and Tommy never got a look in.

Welcome back to IWF: Recap, in the lead-up to the first IWF PPV ever screened in Australia, i'm Michael Cole and alongside me, is 'The Quintessential Studmuffin' Joel Gertner.

IWF: Fightback, was a big night for a certain tag team, as The Hardyz finally defeated rivals, and Tag team champs Edge + Christian in a hard fought win. Jeff Jarrett's arrival in IWF was a happy one, as the arrogant 'Double J' defeated RVD. Tommy Dreamer's bad run continued, as he lost another IWF Championship opportunity the the oportunistic Fit Finlay.

IWF: When Opposites Collide was a historical night for one man. 'Olympic' Kurt Angle made an impact, as he sent young Shane Helms home, after a comprehensive victory. But the big story was one of persistence, and happiness, as Tommy Dreamer finally won the IWF Championship, after Finlay had a piledriver reversed into a Dreamer Driver, which not only won the fans approval, but the 3 count and the IWF Championship for Tommy.

August wasn't known for the IWF's Help Thy event, it was for the debut of IWF's Crunchdown! on Tuesday Nights, Prime Time on TNN. But on IWF: Help Thy, Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, who had debuted just a few weeks before, took on 'Double J' and won, as the brash Jarrett was left shocked in the absence of Van Dam. Edge + Christian's lackey, Jody Fleisch, filled in for Christian, to defeat the Hardyz just a month after they won it, Edge was left shocked as Fleisch gave everything, and won it for them!

This brings you up to date, with only 2 days left until IWF: Betrayal, could the name be an omen for the Event? You will only see if you tune in to IWF: Betrayal, Monday at 12 noon! This is Michael Cole alongside Joel Gertner, Goodnight, see you on Monday!

IWF: BETRAYAL

Is this where the IWF comes of age? Or is it where, the person they though they knew, that they loved, betrays them?

This Monday Night, nobody is safe.......

Tommy Dreamer looks to keep his IWF Title with him, but the Irish veteran Fit Finlay has other ideas, Edge + Christian take on the Extreme duo, the Hardyz, as the bloodshed continues, Andrew 'Powerhouse' Martin defends his IWF X-Treme championship, 'Olympic' Kurt Angle takes on Shane Helms, while RVD continues his fight against Jeff Jarrett. Two rising stars take on each other as Lance Storm and A.J Styles battle in the squared circle.

Who can you trust?

Choose Wisely.

Nobody suspects it.
