India-Australia series new Ashes - Brett Lee

Right now, i would trade a Pakistan series win, the T20 cup, and even the world cup if we got it just to draw yesterdays match.

This is huge, imo.

Meh, I guess this series is more emotionally charged at the moment, but I wouldn't trade this trivial hostility for the tradition and atmosphere behind the India-Pakistan rivalry.

India - Pakistan intensity is totally diluted at the moment. I was not at all interested watching the recent tour of Pakistan in India. It was a boring affair with bad pitches.

When its fair, I prefer the India-Australia more than anything else. Right now, its very emotionally charged. A contest at a neutral venue would be a ripper. India - Australia is going to get an entirely different dimension after the recently concluded Sydney test match. I am confident of that. If there is one team that we badly want to beat and beat consistently, thats Australia. Every nation in the world wants to beat this team. There are some teams that we appreciate even though we have beat them. But I dont think this Australian team is appreciated much even in their defeats. You feel as if "Yes, we have beat these bunch of arrogant guys...". The way they play their cricket, they will continue to be hated.

India-Pakistan cricket has lost the needle cos our political relations are at best these days and also we seem to be playing aginst each other every year.

India-Australia is much bigger currently than India-Pakistan for two reasons. The first is that unfortunately off-field happenings make the on-field action look like golf. The second is that India are the only team in recent time that look like keeping the Aussie batsmen under some control--in the first innings that is.

hmm.. Pakistan VS ZImbabwe rivals? what next?

There is far more acrimony than the Ashes at the moment, both between the fans as well as the players.

Do you suggest sending some rockets across the borders to liven up the cricket then? ;):D

The one thing about an Ashes series is that no matter what happens on the pitch, niether team cancels the tour and acts like girls on their periods.

Bodyline anyone? :p

Useless bunch of idiots were Jardine and the rest.

All they had to do was get a few bouncers past the defences. ;)

Hard ball, no helmet, hurt Australian = happy Englishman

But there was once english captain refused to finish off the game in Pakistan ;).

Jardine hated Australia more than the entire population of India combined.
