India tour of South Africa - 2013/14

Just like to point out that there are 2 very good seam bowling all-rounders in the Indian domestic circuit right now.

(1) Abhishek Nayar | India Cricket | Cricket Players and Officials | ESPN Cricinfo
.

Just couldn't believe my own eyes when I noticed this from article of cric info,

"Abhishek Nayar, the experienced Mumbai allrounder, was named the best allrounder in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy - he finished second on the batting charts with 966 runs at an average of 96.60 and claimed 19 wickets with his medium pace at 22.89"

You must be kidding me? Have not seen him in Ranji but he is just another Joginder Sharma like how few people were mentioning some pages back(& from those IPL matches). However those stats say it other way!

Rain , rain and only rain in Durban..:noway

Why do the boards keep matches in the rainy season ?
I mean that all matches held in this series had weather conditions of rain.
OdI 3 and the match practice got clearly washed away..

So, 3 wickets to liven up this game. India definitely on the backfoot now. This is`nt nearly a 280 wicket and more like a 400 wicket. Someone has to put their hand up here.

Bowling 416 deliveries without grabbing a single wicket makes a bowler like Dale Steyn more hungry and more dangerous. The 'Steyn Gun' has arrived!!!
Good luck Kohli, Rahane and the rest awaiting in the dressing room!!

----------

Perhaps, Rohit Sharma is getting back to his original form and showing his talent!
Talent is there but patience and determination clearly missing.

Sad to see vijay missing the century by just 3 runs now it's turn of middle order to play well & get a good score.

It looks like that the two batsmen have tided over the difficult period and the partnership is beginning to flourish. :)

Rahane has endured a trial by pace and has done pretty well.
On the other hand, Kohli looks to be in sublime form.

The last time we had a result in an India-SA series was in 2006/7. Since then we`ve had 2 drawn series in India, 1 in SA in 2010/11 and this one here seems to be moving towards another draw. This just goes to show how tight it has been between these 2 sides. India, in their last 7 tests in SA have had a fair head to head in SA as well W2-L3-D2. Makes me even more irritated at this series being so short.

Sad to see Murali Vijay miss his century by three runs. He played really well out there. Rohit Sharma yet again proves that he is a true flat track bully.

Good job by the SA boys so far today. Great fightback.

Rahane has looked dreadfull vs the short ball. Twice getting hit when taking his eye of the ball. Not good for a batsman...

This session definitely belonged to South Africa. Steyn did stun the Indians with a triple strike..
Hoping another solid partnership between Dhoni and Rahane.

But what's more important is that he showed courage and stayed there, instead of throwing his wicket away.

yep, the key to dealing with the short ball isn't making playing it look easy, it's not backing down to it. the only way to get out to a ball which is sailing 4 feet over your stumps is to panic and swish your bat aimlessly at it or to let them stop you coming forward at the fuller deliveries.

edit: should probably say that that means I've been fairly impressed by rahane this tour, he's not the finished article yet but from his FC record we know he has the mental game to build 100s regularly and there are certainly the tools there to do it in tough conditions. Dhawan and Rohit are the two that come out with question marks over their future.

Steyn there showed that there is still something in this wicket if you bend your back and bowl with effort. But still, disappointed that we could only get 334.

Sai, this is just the sort of a pitch we are least suited to. SA are going to pile it on here. Don`t have your hopes up expecting anything from our bowlers.
