Indian Pitches

What is wrong with pitch that favours batsman? It's exciting for the fans and viewers watch high targets to chase

It's not exciting at all when it happens over and over again. Scores in excess of 300 are meant to mean something special, now it's just an everyday thing.

I think the pitches have alot to do with the Indian team's strategy - bat the opposition out of the game.

So it might be a tactical move if anything else (which they have the right to do, as it is their home)

Would you like to be a bowler on that kind of pitch?

Who needs bowlers anymore, just put a bowling machine to chuck half volleys outside off and lets have home run derby :sarcasm

The average amount of runs in ODI have always been increasing. Back few years ago scoring anything above 270+ was almost out of reach for most teams. Now it is norm......effected various factors such as t20/20. The pitches have stayed similar however. But with the increased influence on scoring quickly the pitches need to be a bit better to negate the effects of t20/20.

I just like to add a couple of points:

1- Flick shots that are all about "timing" do not deserve to go for 4. This is where the outfield speed is a bit ridiculous. No offense to the guys that are really good at playing them but they only deserve 3 at most, 4 if you actually hit it with power.

2- I have not seen seam movement at all in any ODI or T20 match in India.

3- I agree with Insomniac, India rely too heavily in batting the opposition out of the game rather than bowling them out. But India will be a better team worldwide once they change this strategy.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing earlier. It's not like we have the best bowlers anyways so might as well have a batting pitch. We can leak 350 but with our batsman + roads we can easily chase it down.

No fun in it though and that's just going to kill our future pool of bowlers.

I don't remember pitches ever being this bad. Maybe it's being blown out of proportion - the Indian batting attack has gotten better and better over the last few years and the bowling fallen at the same magnitude. Perhaps it's just a case of batting excellence from our batting order and ████ from our bowlers? :p

Well yesterday's pitch was the worst. Just look at the Saffer batting card, surely the Indian seamers are not that awful. Have not seen the highlights yet.

They are!

Then there's the Rajkot game vs Lanka where both teams scored 400+. That was just disgusting, glad I didn't watch that match.

I heard that they had to get the local council workers to prepare the wickets cause the groundsmen had gone on strike

Dunno, seemed like they offered a lot of full-tosses. Can't blame the pitch for those!

I totally agree the batting friendly pitches have made the game joy to watch but i personally like matches played on bowling friendly pitches.WC 99 is my favorite wc because due to have some good bowling pitches matches were very comptative
