Indian Premier League: Draft - Round 7

Morne has been off color for the last couple of years. Raina averages 28 in the last 21 ODIs he has played with just 1 half century to show beside his name. No centuries. Amla has averaged 44 (almost 10 runs per innings short of his career average) in last 22 ODI matches he has played.

Well if that's the case then even Kallis has not played an ODI since 2012 (he's set to make a comeback, yes but still) and has not been in best of form recently. Even Irfan Pathan and Umesh Yadav have been in and out of the Indian side, they don't have much to show as of now. Right, you changed your pick to Johnson, but your initial pick was Morkel. :p

Changed my pick to Hafeez.

That adds another great player to the tally, No.1 all-rounder indeed. Been in great touch with the bat as of 2013, already scored 2 centuries and averages 47. Not been in a great bowling form but a really handy option.

Shakib is 10x better than Hafeez.

Yes, he might be but on the basis of current form, Hafeez is better than Shakib. I mean just look at his 2013, he has been part of just three games and averages 17.66 with the bat and 112.00 with the ball.

We can't really compare both of them but this was the only reason why I picked Hafeez ahead of Shakib. :)

Hafeez averages 36.52 (26 innings, 840 runs, 4x50, 2x100)with the bat in 2013. :spy

Really? I actually checked it on ESPN. :facepalm But whatsoever, in my view at least, Hafeez is a better pick than Shakib. And accept it guys, we would have been praising the same players if they were in our respective teams so I am out of this. :p

Kallis has been extraordinary in Tests and forced his way into the ODI side at an age of 38. Speaks volumes about his form, doesn't it? Irfan has been picking wickets in bunch in the domestic matches for two or three seasons now. Yadav, I think was left out after getting injured, right? I loved his action and the fact that he is quick and accurate makes him lethal I think. If India make him groom over the years, he can be the most aggressive bowler from the country (Remember his famous over against Srilanka?). Coming to the league, Johnson and Yadav will be a deadly pace combo. Oh yes, I picked Johnson after looking at Morne's figures for 2012 and 2013 which were very very average. Johnson's batting ability tilted the decision in his favor further.
