Mate start catching up with Indian domestic scene if not on TV do it through Cricinfo.
Parthiv Patel plays for Gujarat not for Baroda/Mumbai .Not sure why was he picked ahead of Pinal Shah(Indias u-19 and BAroda's wk when the selection commitee is trying to blood in youngsters. This guy is good and he will give even DHoni a run for his money.
Powar if not for being a Mumbai player would have been a regular fixture in the team.He is the best bowler for years now in the domestic scene ,add to it his explosive batting and you have got a really useful player. Its high time now that he be given a chnace and let Harbhajan colol heels.
Ganguly gone and gone for good.It has to do with the guy.People keep on saying Ganguly is politicsed but the guy did that himself.Didnt Ganguly play games himself when he was at the helm ????
Wasim Jaffer's form if you didnt hear about his form you should stop watching Indian cricket .
Munaf Patel's selection had to come and he will even play the match just because he can take wickets (ask the England team about it)He took 10 of the 18 wickets that fell in the practise match.
As far as your question is concerned yes selction has been biased but not towards West Zone palyers infact agaist them.
Fact:"An India Test squad has been having only 2 (maybe 3 sometimes)mumbai players for so many years now.More that that rd hasnt been quite seen for a long time. Now that Jaffer has bene picked Agarkar has ben dropped."
Strange not quite this is what is quota system is all about.
1. Agreed wholeheartedly on most points. Pinal Shah should certainly be given a nod ahead of Parthiv. Opininons about his handful first class matches should not be held against him considering Parthiv's test debut happened before his Ranji debut.
2. Same with Powar. He should have been given a run, especially considering his batting skills.
3. I feel that there is no point in discussing Ganguly anymore. Bringing him into the equation only upsets the balance of the team. He has certainly been sorted out by the international bowlers, including Blessing Mahwire.
4. I would say Gambhir was quite lucky, having a run even with a pathetic form. Jaffer was scoring in tons and his season average is a staggering 78 with a double ton to the boot.
5. I have earlier stressed that Munaf should get the nod ahead of VRV. Munaf has a briskness, which VRV lacks and that would cost in a flat track. VRV needs to be groomed further. and Raina? with the in-form Yuvraj back, who is to be dropped. Kaif? after the best knock of the whole match? or Laxman. Though Laxman might be a possible number 1 contender in the selector's chopping block, the man is a proven class act. So the obvoius misfit was Raina.
Though I would agree on all these, my cry is why talent from south is being overlooked? Ramesh was given the boot at the same time when the hopeless Akash Chopra was given the nod. Badani is yet another case of the unlucky cricketer. I mean, what else has the man to do?
Robin Uthappa is still being overlooked, so is Venugopal Rao. I would like to give Tamil Nadu's Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan a run atleast in the 'A' team. And needless to say Ambatti Rayudu - The much hyped child prodigy, who still cannot make the cut.
Last, Any one ever heard of Kanwaljeet Singh, K.N.Ananthapadmanabhan or Ajay Kuduva?
