Awesome, South Africa series over christmas break :D. I can finally watch some good cricket without the stress of staying up the entire night and then going to school.

Apart from the fact that I am utterly sick of Sri Lanka, i am glad we are playing tests. They are always a good thing. With our middle order aging, this may be one of the last times we get to see our 'test specialists' play for India. Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman will sorely be missed!

So almost few series over now.

Only 3 Series left. Aussie ODI, NZ Tour & South Africa Tour.

But it's hell lot of cricket played and I feel the likes of Mukund,Rahane,Pujara should be our first choice in NZ Tests.

I think Laxman can be rested for the tests against NZ to recuperate fully from his back problems. Pujara should be retained and so must Vijay. Gambhir should be kept on a tight leash now and should be made to work for his runs. If he doesnt bat well, Vijay should replace him even if Gambhir is not injured.

Yuvi has no chance now to make it back into the test side. Next in line should be Rahane, Mukund and Kohli.

it does present a bit of a problem as resting players for the ODI series' before a world cup is a bit risky. Laxman doesn't play ODIs though so why rest him if he's ready to go. he always gets the month after a test series to rest and will have 2-3 months when the world cup is on.

at the same time, who wants to miss out on making a big score against NZ? pretty sure most people want to see tendulkar make his 50th century and he has a pretty good chance of doing so against them.

Laxman will anyway be needed for the South Africa tour at the end of the year (where the conditons are bound to be challenging). If he can be rested for the NZ tests, then players like Pujara, Vijay, etc can get chances to cement their reputation in test cricket and thereby when the seniors retire, these guys have enough test experience to straightaway take over and score from where the seniors left off.
