News Update
About Team India

Team Announced for Australian Tour.
Hello and warm welcome again to all the Star network viewers. With the new coach selected for Team India, Indian team selectors without wasting time further have announced the squad for the upcoming CommonWealth Bank series in Australia. There have been plenty of surprises in the team selection which was not expected that too in just a tour away from World Cup.

New Captain for India.

What a test it is going to be
for the new captain,Dhoni & new coach, Waugh!

The selectors have announces MS Dhoni as the new captain of Team India. Some sources do say that the captaincy was first offered to Tendulkar which he denied it. And some sources also say that it was Tendulkar who pointed out Dhoni for the captaincy post.

Though the new coach, Waugh is yet to meet all the players, he flew all the way from Australia and met the BCCI chairperson. He spoke over the phone to some players and expressed his wishes to Dhoni for the new captaincy job. When StarSports spokesman got hold of Steve Waugh through phone, Waugh expressed,

"Well, everything is going to be new for the Indian cricket.. team, captaincy, even me as the Indian coach and everything! I am yet to meet all the players..but I am happy with the team announced for Australian series. Also I have seen some of Dhoni's knocks and he seems to me as a perfect spot for the aggressive captaincy among the Indian players list! I am very happy about the selection overall as well."

Not only the captaincy & coach are new to India but also there were some surprises in team selection.

Debutants for Team India!

Kohli & Dhawan making their way
into Team India

The under-19 Indian captain, Virat Kohli and Delhi player, Shikhar Dhawan got selected for the upcoming series. Its to be noted that Kohli captained the young Indian side in one of the World Cups and brought the trophy home. Both the players seem to be very aggressive in their nature. In particular, Kohli has been noted for his aggressiveness as well as his matured gameplay in domestic levels.

But making a straight debut in Australian soil facing the quality bowlers is never never going to be easy for any debutant. We have to wait and see how these debutants are going to impress the selectors for having confidence in them in this tour.

Shockingly, Dravid and Ganguly were left out for the series. Selectors failed to make any comment on those but instead they only came up with answer that, youngsters had to be given more chances/exposure in international level.

Other batsmen selected were Tendulkar, Sehwag, Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina. Except for Tendulkar Indian batting seem to lack in experience a bit.. but have to wait and see what and how these youngsters do against the quality opponents under the new captain and new coach.

New Faces in Bowling Too.

Lots and Lots of experimentation
in the line-up for Team India

Another Delhi player who is a fast bowler, Ishant Sharma have been selected into the Indian squad. He has been very impressive in domestic level and some secret sources of StarSports do say that it was Tendulkar who strongly recommended on Sharma's selection. ;) With fast bowling department remaining below average for India, we have to wait and see how and whether Ishant Sharma can make any difference to it.

Piyush Chawla, who is a leg spinner representing UttarPradesh in domestic level have been selected too. Its to be noted that Chawla had made some useful contributions with bat as well in domestic levels. But with Harbhajan Singh selected for India, who is a leading key spinner in Indian side, it's still going to be tough for Chawla to make into the squad-XI.

Other fast bowlers who got selected were Irfan Pathan, RP Singh and Munaf Patel. So except for Harbhajan Singh, bowling line up also looks very fresh and young!

Indian Squad for CB Series,Aus

1) MS Dhoni ( Captain/WK )
2) Sachin Tendulkar ( VC )
3) Virender Sehwag
4) Gautam Gambhir
5) V. Kohli ( Debut )
6) S. Dhawan ( Debut )
7) Yuvraj Singh
8) Rohit Sharma
9) Suresh Raina
10) RP Singh
11) Harbhajan Singh
12) P. Chawala( Debut )
13) Ishant Sharma ( Debut )
14) Irfan Pathan
15) Munaf Patel

So the entire team is looking very young and unexplored for the opponents. We have to wait and see how the coach is going to guide all these players to face the quality opponents... and how the new captain is going to lead the team from front! It is indeed a very tough test for the entire team.

Do You Know???

Knowledge is wealth... isn't it? ;) Hence some cricket facts!

Five batsmen have been left stranded on 99* in a test match. Strangely enough this is a fairly recent phenomenon. The unlucky batsmen are Geoff Boycott, Steve Waugh, Alex Tudor, Shaun Pollock and Andrew Hall. While four of them managed test centuries, 99* is the highest test score for Alex Tudor. Mike Atherton once declared England's innings and left Grame Hick stuck on 98*. Andy Flower of Zimbabwe was left on 199* against South Africa (he added 142 in the second innings for good measure), and the greatest of them all Sir Don Bradman was once left stranded on 299*.

So, thats it from the studio here. We will be back again for the fixtures of CommonWealth Bank series 07 and the preparations of this young Indian team for the heavy/tough challenge against the quality opponents. Till then stay tuned :)

Wow another brilliant update Surendar :hpraise. Nice to be doing the story regularly again. Well now abt the story matter. MS Dhoni will be a great skipper for India. S Waugh must be knowing many thing abt the current Aussie team and which would help the Indians. Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dawan are great players and nice to see them in the side. Ishant would be very good as he would get the bounce and some swing on the Aussie wickets overall the perfect kind of side to win the CB series...

Anther superb update!

Love the superb use of graphics in the story. Nice to see Dhoni as the new captain but would have loved to have Ganguly taking that role. Should be an interesting series.

Nice work! KUTGW!

Glad to see that Dravid and Ganguly have been dropped. They should be left for Tests only. I am sure MS Dhoni will be a great skipper and give the boost and confidence that the Indian team need ahead of the World Cup.

Good to see you back as well, Punk.. And Punk, do you know I am still playing with Cricket 05 as I am lot satisfied with this EA 05 than the other versions. :) And the surprising thing is, Punk.. You are still yet to find a AI that satisfies you :p I remember asking you about AI before as well.. You know.. same answer because I didn't replace any AI files when I resumed this again.. It's same as before what I used. I was using Tutsi's AI :) CPU is quite challenging to me is what I feel.
