South Africa V New Zealand T25

Following an emphatic test series victory for South Africa the 2 sides meet in the games newest format to battle it out. Ranked thrid in the world there wil be no excuses for the Kiwis as they look to regain some pride from the poor tests. Both sides have selected strong lineups so lets get out in the middle to take a look at the pitch.

it's an excellent pitch here and whoever wins the toss will undoubtedly bat first, we've got to be looking at a day for big scores here, not fun for the bowlers.

A massive score made more impressive by the loss of not a single wicket was perhaps only slightly let down by the below par run rate. An amazing century from Graeme Smith gave them the boost they needed and really handed the control to the Saffas. Backed up by an impressive knock from Gibbs it's looking like South Africa will continue their dominance over the Kiwis. A major dissapointment was the fact we didn't get to see enough of the other stars like Kallis and De Villers but South African fans will certainly not be upet by losing 0 wickets!

A shocking performance from an attack that can do so,so much better left New Zealands batsmen a massive task to win the game. There really is very little to say about this, they weren't economical, they weren't unlucky they were just really bad, they will have to look at themselves here, they have the talent but do they have the commitment? Bond was the biggest dissapointment but coming back from injury perhaps he can be forgiven.

A valiant batting effort had just been asked to do too much by their bowlers. Maybe if someone classy like Fleming was coming in at 3 they would have stood a chance but with Vincent playing the anchor, when McCullums explosive innings came to an end it wasn't backed up by Taylor or Styris and the loss of wickets proved too costly despite a brave effort by How who smashed the ball to all parts regaining some pride for the Kiwis and for a while giving them hope.

A performance good enough to win the game after the massive total posted by the batsmen was pleasing for the Saffas. Only Pollock was expensive but Dale Steyn once again was the star and he's fast becoming one of the worlds best cricketers. Very impressive all round and South Africa will look to show the world their one of the best in all forms of the game.

India V Pakistan 2nd Test

Following a convincing victory for the Indians in the first test the Pakistanis have taken a risk and brought back the big name of Shoaib Akhtar. He'll certainly add some more excitement to this already huge rivalry. This game will prove the key in the series and if the Indians win they will win the series. Both sides have announced different XI's and controversially the Indians have made just the one change, Pathan in for Zaheer. It's a risk but the Indians will hope it comes off. Pakistan as well as bringing in star Shoaib have got the man who came so close to defeating India in the twenty20 world cup, Misbah, to come in and replace fawad Alam who actually batted very well in the 2nd innings and will be dissapointed to be dropped. Lets take alook at the pitch:

Sachin Tendulkar battled through on a bowlers day where the Indian batsmen struggled and got themselves in, then out again! It was the incredibly slow rate at which the Indians scored that cost them and led to the poor total. A strike rate of 17 from VVS Laxman off 161 balls says it all and the only really succesful man was the one who attacked and scored at a run a ball. Tendulkar.

Top class bowling from Asif sent a message to the world about how he is one of the top pace bowlers on a day when Shoaib was getting all the headlines. The duo did some serious damage to the top order and bowled really tightly. Asif undoubtedly was the man responsible for giving Pakistan the advantage and he was backed up by a very good and economical performance from explosive all rounder Afridi.

An amazing innings from Younis Khan of 156 got the Pakistanis to a total that really gives them control of the game. Lots of the batsmen got starts but he was the one who really went on and made a big score. he was backed up by a solid 50 from Yousuf and 42 from Malik. Then keeper Ahmed continued his impressive start and good batting with 45*. It was a very impressive performance all round when the team were expected to struggle like the Indians did. This time they raised their game though and got themselves into a match winning position.

No one bowler stood out for India as the Pakistanis and mainly Younus plundered runs. Harbajan was the pick of the bowlers but even he didn't do enough to stop Pakistan and really they struggled to bring themselves back into the game. No-one was economical enough or took enough wickets to have done what Asif and Afridi did for Pakistan and from now it will be very though for india.

That was a poor batting display from India. I didn't expect that from the excellent batting conditions.
