iPhone or Blackberry

New Curve is coming but it will be entry level mobile phone and then you have Onyx which is modified version of Bold.

Here's Onyx

I suggest you visit Cell phone reviews, news and specs - Phone Arena and compare different mobiles that you prefer before purchase.

I would say Go for Blackberry. Bold is an excellent phone.
You will love its keyboard and the blackberry's known for its e-mail handling.

The iPhone does the job well enough, but I think having used a BB before, you will miss the push-mail and the BB-Pin messaging.

I'm not 100% sure, but i think iPhone does not handle e-mails the way Blackberry does. In a BB, emails are received the way we receive SMS. The moment an e-mail comes into the inbox, the phone downloads it instantly and we get a notification.

In the iPhone, the e-mail settings are stored on the device, and it regularly syncs it with the mail server. If a mail comes, it would be downloaded on the device on the next sync cycle.

That is the way e-mails on my HTC work. It's not really bad, but if I set the sync interval too soon, it drains the battery. Blackberrys are created keeping this in mind, and email connectivity certainly won't be a cause of excessive battery usage.

Another con for the iPhone - Typing would be a pain. Especially after you've used a Qwerty keyboard on a BB.

I'm not highlighting the Pro's, because they have already been mentioned in this thread.

Good luck with your new phone :)

If you get an iPhone, people will see you as cool. This can not happen with a BlackBerry.

My friends who have used iPhone don't recommend it to anyone. I only don't recommend Storm and its also unlike any Blackberry. And iPhone is no way a business mobile.

IIRC iPhone has supported push email since OS 2.0 but it doesn't work like BlackBerry. With BlackBerry you sign into the BB website and add your accounts and then everything works like a charm. However, iPhone only seems to support push from MobileMe and Microsoft Exchange Servers. I have set up a Gmail account on iPod Touch (OS 3.0) which is supposedly "push" but I only ever get emails when I open the Mail app.

It seems you have made your decision already, but I figured I'd babble on a bit more.

The Storm was an epic failure from most accounts, and looked like a knee-jerk reaction from BB to produce a touch-screen phone. They didn't need to push it so soon since they dominate the business market, but the change over by many business consumers scared them silly and they uh-oh'ed. BlackBerry Bold is a much better phone, imo, although I haven't gotten the chance to play extensively with both phones. From what I hear the keyboard input for the Storm sucks as well.

With the iPhone, you are going to get annoyed by the keyboard at least for a bit. Even now on my Touch I regularly make mistakes. It just feels nice to have keys to press, but then you lose out on the touch screen. Depends on what you are willing to sacrifice, really.

The iPhone has a ton more applications and has OS software that is updated quite regularly. The BB, though, has the ability to run multiple programs at the same time. You don't have to quit your game just to check email (although most apps worth their salt on the App Store save application progress... but it's still annoying to have the application start over again). The iPhone is obviously going to be a better music player and video player (granted I haven't seen the Bold's video player, but I'd assume Apple's is better what with their shiny big screen).

If you're in business and use the capabilities of your phone to the fullest, you probably want to get a BlackBerry or stick with your old BlackBerry for a little bit longer. iPhone introduced cut and paste in the third major iteration of its OS. BB had that feature around for ages and its much more intuitive to use, as well.

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. I decided to purchase the iPhone 3GS 32GB, it arrived yesterday. I must admit I was still favouring the blackberry but with the iPhone the built in MP3 player done it for me. I didn’t want to carry two devices with me all the time whenever I went out (Blackberry and MP3 player)

First impressions of the iPhone; Very well packaged in a small box convenient to carry. Very Simple inserting the SIM card. First boot of the phone was very fast as soon as me connecting it to iTunes it was activated and ready to use in 20 seconds. Music was transferred quick, about 1000 songs in 3 minutes. So far it was much faster booting and more responsive than my old blackberry

User Interface

The high resolution screen is gorgeous. Everything is very fast, very responsive. When you drag something whether it’s the slider button to unlock the phone, a zoomed-in photograph, or a web page the drag keeps up with your finger. I haven’t found a single element of the iPhone user interface that doesn’t feel snappy, jerked or slow.

Safari

Connected to my wi-fi was very simple. The iPhone automatically picked up my network and all I had to do was enter my network key. I was amazed that browsing was very fast just as fast as on my laptop which was an improvement from the 3G model Excellent mobile web browser. Double tap to zoom in and out just works. iPhone Safari seems hyper-aggressive about keeping a low memory and resource footprint. For example, there doesn’t seem to be any sort of cache for the back button.

Apps

The Apps on the iPhone are very well created and there are over thousands to download. First one I downloaded was Shazam which was amazing and picked up every song i tagged it to. Games apps are very addictive and will keep you occupied whether your in the train or travelling long distances

Battery

Well as for battery as I've only had the iPhone for one day it seems very reliable as it doesn't get used too much. Listening to music and browsing doesn't waste much at all. I've been told it lasts for normally 2 days with average usage.

So far Im very happy with my iPhone and I would recommend it to anyone interested although if it’s for email you want then you’re better off with a blackberry

My Rating is 9/10 for the iPhone

Yeah The 16GB where all sold out and only available in white but I wanted black so I went for 32GB

How did you set up hotmail? Also do you recommend any good apps?
