Draft: IPL Draft - Completed!

Nominated by
@Nilay_60

IPL - 33 wickets @ 22.94 (best 4/26) with an economy of 7.89

Another T20 specialist who relied on variations was :wi::bwl:Kevon Cooper who had a similar pathway. A glorious first season was unfortunately curtailed by injury and was followed by a good second one and an average third season which ended up being his final. A player who could bowl with decent control and is capable of big hits down the order will be a valuable addition to any team.

And he shall go to... @Akshay.

ROB-quiney.jpg

Nominated by
@Bevab

IPL - 103 runs @ 14.71 (best 51) striking at 100.98 in seven innings

Everyone's favourite baggy green :aus::bat:Rob Quiney managed a solitary season for Rajasthan, scored at more than run a ball only twice and is lucky that one of them has a strike-rate of 300 to pad his stats. Apart from a fifty versus Mumbai on an admittedly tough pitch, Quiney was an utter flop and it is no surprise that he hasn't been seen anywhere in the IPL since then.

And he shall go to... @Bigby Wolf

albie-morkel-1430543761.jpg

Nominated by
@VC the slogger

IPL - 974 runs @ 24.35 (best 73*) striking at 141.98 (55 sixes) taking 85 wickets @ 27.75 (best 3/29) with an economy of 8.21

:saf::ar:Albie Morkel is a household name among CSK fans for his hard hitting, useful pace and entertaining career that helped his team win back to back league titles. One of the best all-rounders in the IPL once upon a time, he could not replicate his success after his departure from CSK with three different franchises. Nevertheless, most of his career was in Chennai and anyone nabbing him will have one of the most brutal all-rounders in IPL history.

And he shall go to... @CerealKiller

Colin-Ingram.jpg

Nominated by
@Bevab

Rejected by @ahmedleo414

IPL - 205 runs @ 17.08 (best 47) striking at 113.89 in 15 innings

He might be a well known T20 star in other leagues but :saf::bat:Colin Ingram has struggled to make any impact in the IPL till date. He could only manage three games in his first season. When he returned eight years later, he was a far better player who had reinvented himself as a T20 specialist and played nearly every game possible for Delhi. And yet, all that he could manage was a thoroughly underwhelming performance. To be fair though, he was played out of position to accommodate his captain and Pant in their favoured top order roles and he has several decent cameos to his name where he scored quickly. But given that he did not bowl in the IPL, you would be stuck with a batsman who did not live up to expectations.

And he shall go to... @Nilay_60 (not like you had a choice given that @ahmedleo414 has rejected him).

Nuwan-Zoysa.jpg

Nominated by
@Na Maloom Afraad

Rejected by @Bevab

IPL - 2 wickets @ 49.5 (best 1/30) with an economy of 9 from eleven overs

A single season for Deccan Chargers was all that :sri::bwl:Nuwan Zoysa could manage at the higher levels of cricket. All of his three games proved to be below par with the ball but he did manage a decent cameo with the bat once.

And he shall go to... @ahmedleo414 (that bowling attack of yours will be quite awful indeed).

Nominated by
@VC the slogger

IPL - 2069 runs @ 27.22 (best 109*) striking at 138.39 (92 sixes) with 51 catches and 16 stumpings

MVP of the 2009 season, :aus::wk:Adam Gilchrist was the main reason for Deccan's triumph in South Africa and shall forever be remembered as the first cricketer to cross 1000 runs in IPL history. An aggressive opener, Gilly was slightly unfortunate that the IPL only begun when he was in the twilight of his career. He would still be one of the best overseas players of his time and was an excellent captain who brought innovation and fantastic man-management to the developing league besides several scintillating knocks.

And he shall go to @Nilay_60

And with that gentlemen, the auction is complete.

I've got one hell of an opening pair and a terrific death bowler. :D

Maybe that balances out things for me considering I haven't got a great middle order. :spy

4. :eng: :bat: Eoin Morgan
5.
6.

Saw all the players.

Surprisingly, many IPL , ahem, Legends left out.
  • Masharfe Mortoza (0/48 in one match, that too conceding 23 off the last over)
  • Tymall Mills (5 wickets at an economy of 9 in 5 matches)
  • Marchant de Lange (5 wickets at an economy of 9.39 in 5 matches)
  • Luke Ronchi (34 runs in 5 innings at run a ball)
  • Ricky Ponting (91 runs in 9 innings at strike rate of 71.09)
  • Mark Wood (0/49 in 1 match)
  • Kemar Roach (0 wickets at an economy of 10 in 2 matches)
  • Darren Bravo (6* in only inning)
  • Shivnarine Chanderpaul (25 runs at strike rate of 80 in 3 innings)
  • Chamara Kapugadera (16 runs in 3 innings at strike rate of 70)
  • Brett Geeves (1 wicket at an economy of 11.38 in 2 matches)
  • Ramnaresh Sarwan (73 runs in 4 innings at a strike rate of 97)
  • Darren Lehmann (18 runs in 2 innings)
  • Andre Nel (1/31 in 3 overs in 1 match)

Would have been much more interesting to see these in the auction.

PS- I'm not back. Just had some free time this morning.

May I add the honourable Marlon Samuels to that list? For someone who was the MoM in two WC finals, his IPL average of 12 and strike-rate of 90 is shockingly awful.

On another note, Mark Wood genuinely made me want to pull my hair out in his only game for Chennai. Kept pitching it awfully short without any of the pace he currently has and couldn't land a single yorker if his life depended on it.

There will be many more of such players. I only went through season 1 squads, and some players whose performances I remembered. On going through other squads, I'm pretty sure I'll get at least 20 more :p
