Italian Football Thread

Right, all this 'It's the Italian FA's fault, Italy always cheat, blah, blah, blah' has to stop.

The main reason behind the reinstatements is the fact that the Italian FA, are laying the blame for this at the feet of certain individuals, rather than the clubs. The belief is that fans, players etc should not have to pay for these mistakes. I'm in the same boat as most of you that it's a bit leniant, but you have to see others points of view. I mean how would you feel if the chairman of your club stuck a few grand on your team to win a game, so the whole club got relegated rather than just the chairman getting fined/banned etc?

Erm, the situation you've described is betting on your own club which is illegal, there is a big difference between that and match fixing.

Fine, not the Chairman but manager. You could then link that and say that he was fixing the match to win more money, it's the same principle. They're laying the blame at the feet of the individuals rather than the club. As has been said, what reason is there for relegating the team when it's got nothing to do with the players or the fans?

Because otherwise the deterrent for such actions would be mimimal. The whole club has gained from the illegal action so it follows the punishment should be for the whole club as well.

Three of the clubs still claim they are innocent and the victims of the match-fixing. We are just assuming that the investigation result is true and correct.

Well i think as Barmy said, that the strongest charges and penalties must be laid on cheating clubs. This will really send a meesage to clubs...

The Chairman runs the club, his actions are responsible by the whole club, fans and players included.

Very true...i'm very disappointed by the result and i wouldn't be surprised if it's an attempt to get Milan into the Champs League,so we don't loose to much class in the field this year.

In the Serie-A meanwhile, Fiorentina lost 2-3 to Inter Milan. The Viola were 3-0 down at one stage but two goals from the great Luca Toni set up a cracking end to the game. But in the end it was a losing start to the season for us. 19 points away from 0 with 37 games left.

Other matches, Roma beat Livorno 2-0 with goals from De Rossi and Mancini.

I wonder if the Italians have worked out that all you really need to do against Luca Toni is restrict long balls into the box,and properly mark him....Sheesh!Cambiasso in goalscoring form? The world is a mental place:D

Midweek action from the Serie-A sees defending champions Inter Milan play league leaders AS Roma in the capital city.

Fiorentina host Parma as Adrian Mutu welcomes his former club. The Viola have lost both their games so far and lie bottom of the table with -19 points. A red card to Manuel Pasqual means coach Cesare Prandelli will have to reshuffle his defence. Alessandro Potenza should deputise for him for the next two games.

Adi Mutu!!! Despite what happened at Chelsea, I still am a big fan of this guy. First win of the season, though it was sad to see Toni shown the red card. Unnecessary and foolish.

The Viola are BACK!!!:cheers
