Kent not welcome in Champions League - Modi

Yeah they were discussing it on Sky Sports in one of the breaks.

So heard would be correct in this form.

Thanks for that, been bugging me for a while. I remember thinking "oh well, at least they tried", but couldn't remember where I was when I got the information.

I guess the English are also in now (with Middlesex confirmed to play in the tournament!). Looks like some temporary solution has been found.

Middlesex did'nt have any ICL players. Right?

Middlesex are in as they are one of only 3 counties that have no ICL players. Unless these 3 teams consistently win the T20cup I can't see how this is workable in the longer term.

ICC-BCCI on the war path

NEW DELHI: Even as the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) gets into fast track mode with its plans of hosting the Champions League, the world governing body - ICC has advised members against participating in the cash-rich Indian league.

The sport's governing body has created fresh roadblocks for the Indian board and will surely come as a major blow to the BCCI. The International Cricket Council confirmed to Times Now that they have sent a communique to all its member boards objecting to the inter-club tournament's proximity to the ICC Champions Trophy.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I'm amazed. The ICC standing up to the BCCI? All I can say is well done, just this small word means a hell of a lot, the ICC finally forming their own opinion and sticking it to it! :clap:clap

I get a distinct feeling this may have shocked you :p
It is good news and I hope this means the ICC are growing some balls.

Still wouldn't surprise me if BCCI won and the League goes through. But thank you ICC, for finally showing some balls!

ICC board to discuss Champions Twenty20 dates

The ICC board will discuss on Wednesday the potential impact of the Champions Twenty20 League, which is being held from September 29 to October 8, on the ICC Champions Trophy that ends in Lahore on September 28.

The ICC's directors, Cricinfo has learnt, are expected to discuss over a teleconference whether the inaugural Twenty20 event would devalue their showpiece one-day tournament, especially since the league starts on the reserve day of the Champions Trophy final.

It's understood that representatives from BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and Cricket South Africa (CSA), the founding partners of the Champions Twenty20 League, will reiterate that their tournament does not involve national teams and so does not devalue the Champions Trophy "in any manner". They are expected to point to the tournament's 'domestic' label, which bypasses the ICC guideline that bars any international competition from taking place within seven days of an ICC event.

Champions League organisers explore date shift

The three founding partners of the Champions Twenty20 League - the BCCI, Cricket Australia (CA) and Cricket South Africa (CSA) - are exploring the possibility of shifting their tournament to December following a request from the ICC given a clash of dates with the Champions Trophy, Cricinfo has learnt. The Twenty20 tournament is due to begin on September 29, the reserve day of the Champions Trophy final.

It's understood that the organizers are now looking at holding the tournament in India from December 2-11, between the India-England one-day series and Tests.

This is just a whole hodgepodge of incompetence (:p).

The BCCI need to stop being arrogant, thinking they can control everything. What they're doing is illegal, and there's no other word for it - restriction of trade.

And the ECB, please, grow some balls and stand up to the money mongerers of the disgraceful BCCI!

Well, at least the ICC has started to stamp its authority . . . for once.

The ECB is actually. But I dont think they should not prevent Middlesex from taking part because there is money there to be won which can be used for the club's development. Like I said Middlesex have nothing to lose.

It seems that the team selected to replace Kent in the champions league could be the Sialkot Stallions (Pakistan T20 champions). However they too have 2 ICL players in their ranks (Naved and Nasir). Stinks a bit of double standards, but then are we to expect anything else?
