Kevin Pietersen or Ricky Ponting?

Not even comparable to Ricky Ponting. Ricky Ponting is a long way ahead of anyone currently as the best batsman he averages over 65 in tests batting at 3

Its actually 58 use to be 60 but his had a run of bad form of late.

I think KP believes he's better than he actually is!

Remember watching the Old trafford ashes test when ponting was there all day playing beautiful! There is no way KP could have done that!

Ricky Ponting is a way better player ATM, in tests anyway. KP isn't there yet.

Ponting, though I don't think the gulf between the two is as big as some say. Quite different players though. Two excellent batsman.

McGrath got the better of the Lara & Tendulkar.

But Lara & Tendulkar got the better of Warne.

However, Kevin Pietersen got the better of both McGrath & Warne.

Let's not forget that it was Kevin Pietersen who ran Brian Lara out to end Lara's career for good and then followed that up with an amazing 100 in the World Cup.

I don't really think Pietersen did get the better of them just because he was able to score runs; they also got him out a number of times each. He does average 50 against Australia but a player of that calibre could easily average much more in a series, especially when presented with four or five good batting tracks.
