Well, my LT just fell down, quite badly too. Now, it won't boot. Sony Vaio it is. I get the Vaio splash screen but then the black screen never goes. Using recovery discs, I can come to Windows loading bars but that too remains forever. What's the problem?

The interior chips might have as well been damaged, just pass it on to a serviceman, that's what I would do.
My dad once spilled water on my laptop, it wouldn't reboot for a couple of hours, only to fix it later via a hair dryer.:p

While I wouldn't recommend a hair dryer, I have heard that placing water-damaged electrical appliances (phones especially) in a bowl of rice (uncooked) can take all the water out.

I haven't quite tried it though but theoretically it makes sense :p

You dropped it. D'uh :rolleyes

VAIO's are tough though. My neighbour had an entire bookshelf above hers, and it lost weight and crashed on to her laptop. Didn't work for a while, but tried turning it on a few hours later, and it worked fine. Just wait and try again, I guess.

Yes the rice does work, though it's more for smaller things like a phone or iPod.

I'd think that the harddrive may be broken, it's probably the most delicate part of a computer

Happened once when my dad dropped my laptop and a piece of the hard drive broke and I never recovered the laptop again. Immediately check if all interior parts are safe.

Make sure the RAM sticks are properly connected. Swap them if needed

Also make sure the HDD is properly connected as well

Both can be opened easily without opening the whole back or voiding the warranty

Probably the HDD crashed. Shocks can easily destroy HDDs. Try to boot from a CD/DVD.

Oh, just saw it's loading but getting stuck. Probably it is the Hard disk as well as the RAM. if you have 2 sticks, remove one and try.

Is it that bad that I've to get a new one? I searched on google and think it is HDD that is gone. Taking it to the Sony center tomorrow, will see what they say.

:p

No, not working. It fell badly.

You should just be able to replace the HDD with a new one if that is the problem. Shouldn't be too expensive, though you'll have lost all of your data
