Leave only lbws to umpires: Tendulkar

The Third Umpire's decision is also a prediction. You have to decide whose prediction is more clear. Technology's or the Third Umpires.

What're you talking about? Tendulkar clearly said to leave the LBW's to the on-field umpire. The third-umpire does not come in at all. In the current situation, the third umpire only has the right to disclose whether the ball pitched in line, hit the batsman in line and what height the ball was on impact. None of that is prediction.

I'm talking about technology on a whole basis. Not what Tendulkar is saying. LBW's are a part of the Referral system. The fact that they show where the ball pitched, where it hit, and at what height it hit the batsman just further enhances my argument. You're already showing so much, so why not just show the Hawk Eye prediction as well. Leaving that bit to the umpire is pretty useless.

hmmm....Call me old fashioned, call me a git, call me an ambulance I don't mind(Infraction for Plagiarism :p) but i dont agree with tendulkar here....
there should be spontaneity in the game. if everything is perfect, then there wont be any fun.

if it wasnt for the bad decisions, there wouldnt have been such a rivalry and a fantastic series against australia !

why even LBWs then ? no umpires are needed at all....when hes stuck in front,
the bowler can appeal straight to the third umpire.....:sarcasm

Of course, the biggest issue is that people assume that technology will always get it right. We get millions of TV aids on Sky, you still get decisions which you just don't know what happened.

Any form of predictive technology should never be used. Indeed, any form of prediction, should not be let near a cricket pitch.

with all the technology, you know how frustrating it'll be..

imagine a tense test match finish ; the bowler is appealing for caught behind, bat-pad,LBWs and what not. if everytime...say a hot spot is used...it'll completely take away "the moment" !

And not too mention it affects the concentration of the batsman. How many times have we seen a wicket fall after the drinks break. These small five minute breaks don't seem like much too us, but they have pretty big impacts on the batsman.

Tendulkar is the one that brought this up so clearly he doesn't mind the break. If hes happy then most other batters will be. Not to mention some captains spend 5 minutes sorting their field setting anyway.

You're doing nothing to invalidate my point, which is that all technology that is allowed only "replays" what has already occurred. The predictive part of Hawk-Eye has not occurred yet. The replay aspect of Hawk-Eye, while still inaccurate, is far better than the predictive portion. Just because they flow into each other does not mean they are as accurate as each other.

Why dont we play the old fashioned way ? whats the use of technology then?

Decisions goes upstairs, we would see the replays live, can judge out if their justice done, issue of partiality/fixing/human error will be vanished!

I like this idea, really like it. It will make sure that not too much time is wasted while using the technology but I am not sure if ICC have found their brains back.
