Greg Chappell talks to the press for the last time as he is fired as India coach

Greg Chappell has been fired as Indian coach and will be replaced by unknown Lee Payne for the tour of the West Indies. This has caused uproar in India who will remain to be closed minded until the team hit good form under the new man.

"The Indian people are not happy. I can understand that. A respected coach has been given the boot for an unknown, young English person. I am determined to work well with the team and produce results. I'm a battler and I'm ready to take the West Indies by storm." said Payne, shortly after arriving in Mumbai to meet his colleagues.

Payne knows nothing about most of the Indian team, and has said that he may make unexpected call-ups for some of the young and old players.

The recruitment has however received support from one of the best players in Indian history, Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin says that Payne is a modern coach

"He is very young, and in many ways that will be an advantage. He understands what cricket is like today, not like Chappell who was telling us to play in a way he would twenty or thirty years ago." said the little master.

Attentions will now turn to the squad announcement for the Windies tour, where Payne says he will make the first of his 'unexpected changes'.

What!!! This is disgraceful!! I for one hope India loses all it's matches under Lee Payne!! :mad

Indian squad for West Indies tour announced

The much anticipated squad for the Indian tour of the West Indies has been announced. New coach Lee Payne says that most of his requests were accepted by the selectors.

L Balaji
M Dhoni
R Dravid
W Jaffer
Z Khan
A Kumble
V Laxman
D Mongia
M Patel
I Pathan
S Saravanan
V Sehwag
Y Singh
H Singh
S Sreesanth
S Tendulkar

Surprises in the squad are the inclusions of Zaheer Khan, impressive domestic player S Saravanan and Dinesh Mongia.

Zaheer Khan has been selected for India again

Indian favourites Rahul Dravid, Mahendra Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar were all included and the squad has received little outcry.

India failed to impress in a warm up game before the ODI series against West Indies with a stumbling 16 run win.

Captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bat, but despite his own innings of 83 and Wasim Jaffer's of 64, the batsman were blamed for batting too slowly as they made just 188 in 50 overs.

Barbados scared the tourists, but they were all out for 172, H Singh's 3-22 providing enormous relief.

Result
India 188-2 (Dravid 83)
Barbados 172 all out (H Singh 3-22)

They will need to improve by the first ODI or the Indian people may force the new coach's resignation.

Poll will decide coach's fate

India have been thrashed in the first ODI against West Indies- with new coach Lee Payne telling the players to BLOCK as many balls as possible in their chase.

Rahul Dravid won the toss and elected to bowl, and the Windies made 228-8, a respectable battle between bat and ball.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul hit a half century in what turned out to be a farce

India then WASTED their 50 overs by coach Payne telling them to play defensively. They were 94-2 after their 300 balls! The Windies won by 134 runs, and only by a ridiculous decision from the coach.

There has not been a poll added to the Indian public (see top of thread) where the first five votes will decide Payne's fate.

Result

West Indies 228-8 (Chanderpaul 65)
India 94-2 (Dravid 44 not out)

i believe you should move backwards to a county or state club and work your way from there and then move back to India national team if the board allows you.
i know this won't happen as 3 have voted for no but i think thats whats right :)
