I am very keen on knowing what they will name the team? When RPSG owned Pune, it was easy for them to integrate the name into their company abbreviation.

With Lucknow, maybe, historically, Nawabs would be good. Then again, knowing that the Yogi is in power, they might have to resort to using a name without any Islamic connotations.

Travesty if they name is Rising Lucknow Supergiant/ Lucknow Lafangas :p

Honestly I don't like the owners of this franchise. Don't think they respect the legacy of their senior players. I am sure if any senior player who comes in for them doesn't play well in the first season they are openly going to mock them on social media the next season.

Anyways, I would not hold anything against the Lucknow team because of them.

Oh come on!

As a franchise owner, you need to take some tough decisions. RPSG took the decision to sack Dhoni, bench him, had the audacity to even not let him captain in the absence of Smith- but if you want to win, you got to take these decisions.

Regarding social media, I believe you are referring to Sanjeev Goenka's brother- Harsh Goenka, who is known for going on the offensive on social media. He isn't a part of the owership group, so wouldn't read too much into it.

Eventually Dhoni Captained his side to the title next season. Also, not a Captain's fault if 40% of side gets dismantled to injuries and in turn you don't get players who were half good the players that missed out due to injuries. Possibly that's a past. Would be keen on to know how they go about it this time.

So, they yet unnamed franchise has roped in Andy Flower and Gautam Gambhir as coach and team mentors respectively.

The Flower decision is quite surprising. Yes, he has done well for England, but I haven't seen him exercise the same success on a T20/league level. I honestly thought they might settle in for other options when it comes to coaching.

Gambhir- another surprise! Let's see what he comes up with. Although, I understand his appointment was also met with much enthusiasm from Sony Sports- wonder whether they will get the IPL rights now ? :p

So Lucknow trying to get its fans to name the team. Surprisingly they claim to be the first team to do so. Guess they have forgotten that the GMR group actually ran a poll when it came to the naming of the Delhi franchise. The final 2 options at that time were- Delhi Mughals/ Delhi Daredevils.

Anyhow, for whosoever is interested, here's the link via which you could put forth your names for the Lucknow team.

Given their support staff, a name that might resonate well be -गंभीर फूल (Serious Flower's) -the name sounds funnier in Hindi tbh.

So, KLR, Stoinis and Bishnoi it is. The Goenkas want Rahul to captain. Pretty sure they are going to sack him mid season given the results. We saw them go after MSD, so KLR wont be any different.

The Stoinis decision is a bit of an interesting one. I'd expected them to go after a young fast bowler or so. Nevertheless, lets see what the auction holds for them.
