Major League Cricket

Yeah, I've told Kurt about the commentary. It is still in development, as you said. I personally would also love the CricSim commentary but, maybe Kurt can make this much better as the game develops further.

@fenil: if you could PM me your commentary that would be great. you'd get credited properly of course :) the problem with my commentary engine is that the deliveries are physically simulated unlike most other engines. hopefully your commentary phrases will make it more complete :)

@tarun87: I'm currently incorporating a modified version of Fenil's commentary into the game (I'm just about to test it). Regarding the pitch type would it be sufficient to have something like the following in the commentary:

PITCH:

Bounce: GOOD
Swing: LOW
Seam: HIGH
Spin: MODERATE
Deterioration: NEGLIGIBLE

Umm..simulator looks nice.

*saying it with a bad face since my team has lost that game* :p

@Prats: don't worry, things might change after the fixes I made ;) The commentary will look a lot better though. Just wait for User2010 to post a new update :)

Another match. Same teams. I've just added these two so far. :p

For Kurt, commentary looks superb now. Love the speeds. But, this is the problem, I feel this will be there at one or the other point. Defended but, in the air...

Code:
3.2 111.17kph; It curves away just off the straight. Defended down the track. In the air and taken by T Perera - W

Also, I forgot one more thing earlier. Can you please output when a batsman is out, his score and all the data. Something like this -

Code:
0.5 Steyn to Hafeez, OUT, Kyle Jarvis takes an easy catch to dismiss Mohammad Hafeez, Quack Quack!

         Mohammad Hafeez 0 (2b)
         c. Jarvis b. Steyn

Would do great, if the imp. events like reaching a fifty, hundred, five wickets, four wickets, match result commentary can be added. But, as I say, if it's too much, this is not important at this stage.

@User2010: Thanks for all your input so far - I'll fix up the bugs you mentioned and put up another version in an hour or so.

Yes, there is great improvement in the commentary (and this is purely his commentary, not mine) however, I'd like to see a phrase like "a delicate late cut" rather than a "punchy" one as normally late cuts do not contain much power, it has sheer timing. Also, the graphs are a very good inclusion and you deserve a pat on your back for that. That said, can you make it look a little brighter? It looks a bit in 'night mode' at the moment.

I'm really eager to see the results of the next update that you are to come up with.

Code:
PITCH:

BOUNCE : HIGH
SEAM : MAXIMAL
SWING : MAXIMAL
SPIN : MAXIMAL

I'll need some info about this. I've set 1.00 as the value for all. What should be the values for different conditions? Suppose I need a ground to be a batting beauty, what should be the values? What if I need an even contest? And, what if I need it to be bowler friendly?

@Fenil: Yup, I agree - I'll make a few changes so the commentary is more customizable. That'll probably take a bit longer though. Agreed, on the "night mode" issue :) I'll fix that up too.

EDIT: Regarding the graphs - there's actually quite a few graphs. The game exports the following:

spiders
wagon wheels
pitch maps
batting/bowling scorecards
manhattans
run rates
worms

@User2010: The values you set in the editor are just the base ones - these will be randomized slightly for every game. You can leave Bounce as 1. For a batting paradise you'd probably want to set swing, seam and spin to 0.8. For a lively pitch you'd to set them to 1.2.

Aha, yeah. But, putting all those in here will be a pain. :p I'll put the main ones though from now on in the official matches, like the player who scores most and who takes most wickets.

Aah, that's nice. Thanks for the info.

The sim looks pretty good, the commentary looks much better after the changes and the scorecard and manhattan also looks great.

It'll be a really good experience to play with this sim.
